Is it me or is Bloodstone extremely rare?
Required for a black forge upgrade, and i did manage to get just 1, I've raided 5 forts after but none of them had one in either of the two chests. so I count that as quite unlucky. Im tired boss i dont want to raid fortresses anymore, but you need one for the flame sword which is annoying, I went through the trouble to find all 3 pieces only to be met with that gem requirement...

Honestly the whole game could do with a mercy system on the rare loot drops.

You got unlucky with bloodstone, but frankly you got lucky in getting the others.
Bloodstone currently is the worst, the enchant is really bad.
Sadly the flaming sword is also pretty bad, but i guess it will be busted once deep north is ready.

Make a few dozen and use them as endless torches!

You are a Viking fighting at the behest of Odin himself. And you seek .... mercy?

Surely you jest.

No idea. I usually quit of boredom shortly after the swamp. I'll come back and try again each update, but I never really get far before losing interest again. I still haven't seen a frost cave.

you can only make dynwyrn once per gameworld.

the gems are a problem down the road.

currently the only gem that is a problem is iolite because lighting just wins over the others.

for now there should be enough fortresses to find everything multiple times.

forts have between 2-3 chests. its random if the outer ring has 1 or 2 chests. but 1 is 100% spawn. sadly thier loot can vary from god tier (50 flametal and 4 gems from 1 chest) to utter trash (some gold a charred skull and 1 molten core)

blood gems are only needed for the forge upgrade and thats a one time deal and for the dundr and the trollstav and for the dynwyrn. thats it. the other blood weapons are just bad choices. no matter what. the effect is just terrible currently.

dynwyrn is terrible given you have to face off with lord reto for it on top of dealing with 2 star spawners this weapon sucks and will continue to suck unless they actually turn it into a proper elemental weapon. currently this is harder to get and worse in every way than a lighting niedhogg and this wont change with deep north either as the fire dmg is just way too low and doesnt upgrade at all. purely a cosmetic trophy weapon. which is a shame as it looks 10 times cooler than the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ looking lighting on a stick sword where they picked the worst of the 3 designs for it.

dynwyrn is currently gem waste. be careful with your gem choices. they are a very limited resource. there is only about 15-20 fortresses per game world. times 2-3 for chests with random chance for each gem. do the math. this is the rarest resource in the entire game now excludeing 1 time drops like dynwyrn fragments.

the gems are rarer than black cores. currently its fine as you only 2 per weapon on average. but once the level 3 upgrade arrives (this will occur before deep north) each weapon will require 2 more gems just for level 3. level 4 is irrelevant as theyll gate it until deep north and then youll replace them with deep north weapons anyway.

It makes me wonder if they'll add the gem drops to the deep north as well, maybe making them a bit more common. Though honestly i would just do a Hildir esque event where you can fight a Reto for a drop of one of the gems, so there is one renewable way of obtaining them.

Ah but that's not strictly a restriction in Valheim is it :D

As to rng mercy being un-viking, what if we did the same thing but called it Dice Jail.

I got 4 bloodstones in first 2 fortresses I took. Got no lolite yet though.

Assuming all gems have same probability, just rng

I am in the same boat. I've done 4 fortresses and no bloodstone. Getting bored with the Fortresses now and not looking forward to trying to find more fortresses for this drop. But I need it to upgrade my forge so I can upgrade my weapons..which I want to do before trying Fader.

Each charred chest[valheim.fandom.com] has an equal rng (8.2%) for the 3 gems and each fortress can feature 2-3 chests.

Not true. You can make as many as you have the parts for. Turn the drop rate to 3x before picking up each part, and you'll have the parts for 3 of them.

At normal drop rate.

Additional drop rate adds to both the number of rolls each chest makes for items, and the amount of the item found per roll, giving you FAR more gems per chest.

I saw how poor the drop rates were, and set my game to 3x drop rate world modifier when I got to the ashlands...

20 fortresses later, I have crafted EVERY version of every item that needs gems, and still have more than 50 of each gem left over, as well as 3 Dynwyrn.

I really recommend doing that, otherwise you may have to start a new world or cheat just to get enough gems to craft everything.

That's what I got from all 20 ashlands fortresses (every world has 20) and my 3 Dynwyrn.

Bloodstone ain't rare crank your resource rate up to 3x multipliers and you'll get way more. I found Jade a bit more rare than the other 2 mostly. done about 9 forts or so. Got 2 stacks of bloodstones, close to 2 stacks of Iolite, and about a dozen Jade stones.

Plus the loot is random in each fort as well. Just gotta keep looking. They should probably look at other ways of adding gems to other places later on, like Morgen Caves or Reto's Tomb at least, considering the effort you go to just fighting him.

Wrong. you can make 2 or 3 with resource multipliers per world.
