High focus combat, main goal is boss killing, about half of game's progression is locked within dungeons.

Butnthere is no rush or time pressure to do anything at haste. Day 1 is just like day 300, so you can take your time and learn along the way.

Did you read the description of the game on the store page?

A brutal exploration and survival game for 1-10 players, set in a procedurally-generated purgatory inspired by viking culture. Battle, build, and conquer your way to a saga worthy of Odin’s patronage!

So no, not 'comfy'. You will die. You will have to use your wits. Satisfying? Yes. Rewarding? Yes. Sense of accomplishment? Oh yes.

There are difficulty and gameplay sliders, there is a console, and some people just build. Your game - play it your way

Eh, the store description is just marketing. It's as chill as you want to make it, mostly depends who you're playing with and how much time they have for building farms and villages.

Thanx for the chuckle :D

Heh, for real tho. Comfy is not the game as designed but it totally supports being Viking The Sims or even Mario Kart if you get into weird server settings.

Can be comfy. Set mobs to passive, sit in your lazyboy, enjoy the show

It can be quite comfy, unless you rush it. There is no time limit, so you can stay in the meadows and build your massive Viking village. And you can set world modifiers, like no base raids, easier combat etc. Some of the later biomes are more combat focused, and perhaps somwehat less comfy.

its your choice. There is a setting in the game setup to make all the enemies passive (won't attack you), and another to just let you build a home without materials (but not produced items like food, armor, weapons). So you can have it so you only fight a handful of times, enough to get a few monster dropped items for food or necessary upgrades, and then just do your own thing.

combat is simple, but the enemy are moderately tough and hit hard on default settings, and there are a lot of them.

The game definitely has some of the comfiest moments compared to other games I've played.
My mom plays the game and uses the world modifiers to make Valheim easier to play.

Base building, exploring the meadows, going for a sail. Yes comfy and pleasant. Progression into the later biomes and bosses... not comfy or pleasant, but challenging and rewarding as each boss defeated unlocks the unique material that allows you to progress forward. I personally think this game does a great job of providing both types of gameplay, especially if played with friends as you can just manage the base(s) and occasionally join on expeditions.

Regardless though, the aesthetic and feel of this game is unmatched. I've never been that interested in viking themes, but this game really does a great job of setting a tone that is enjoyable, fun, and challenging when you want it to be.

The sailing is very comfy

The game alternates between stressful and comfy. A lot of the base building, farming, sailing can be pretty chill. Exploring can go either way. Combat, dungeons and bosses can be difficult but the more time you spend prepping for these things during the comfy phase the better off you will be. I find the game has a natural back and forth between the two game states.

I dont enjoy combat very much, generally, but I like the game.

I got a little way on my previous playthrough but I wasnt really enjoying it except for the base building, then I lost all my stuff in a plains biome and could get them back, so I gave up for 6 months or so.

I decided to give it another go, and started from scratch but with the combat settings turned to minimum this time, its a MUCH better game IMO and Im loving it and progressing nicely. The default settings are too brutal IMO, only massochists would enjoy getting killed all the time/ getting your bases destroyed etc.

So try changing the settings, its a great build and explore game, with enough combat to keep it interesting and give it an edge. It still scares the crap out of me sometimes but thats what keeps it interesting and gives you a real sense of achievement when you progress.
