Why tell us about the boiling water AFTER dying?
What's the point of this? Our entire party died trying to venture into Ashlands when our boat died and we didn't even understand what was happening.

Only after dying and standing naked in base Hugin comes out, explaining the boiling water mechanic.

Why are you punishing players for not knowing a brand new mechanic? If we need something to get to Ashlands, tell us first. Unbelievably anti-player design.

- You could all hear that the ship is kinda getting destroyed

- You could all read the new descriptions in the game, including the one for ceramic plates

So yea, no, this was your own stupidity or rather ignorance to the tons of warnings.

p.s.
Hugin doesnt tell you when the game start if you die you lose skill level UNTIL you die.

We didn’t get a warning, in the new ship, it just sunk not hitting anything and we died.

I know some people have been having issues with server lag causing ships to take damage in still waters as if they're hitting waves at full speed in a storm (and even worse in actually stormy waters). If you mean this happened in the drakkar, only thing I can figure is this happened to you without you noticing (or it registered some mega hit to the ship this way and instantly destroyed it, but I've never heard of that happening).

Even with some sort of server lagg, that is impossible to take a 3000 dmg hit on any ships.

I'm regularly playing with my friends me being the host and yes, sometimes the ship can take some random dmg even in still water, but that is like 50ish dmg and not 3000....

Either the server had some massive problems or mods were used.

first thing you check when a new biome releases should be : WHAT DID THE BOSS PLACEHOLDER DROP become. then go from there by simply makeing each new item that shows up in order.

also the ship isnt even REQUIRED to reach ashlands. it just makes it easier. a longship wont survive the trip but you can definitly make it into the spire field and then jump to inland with the feather cape.

Don't the waters surrounding the ashlands start to damage non-drakkar boats long before you even reach the stone spires, with steam coming up from your boat and the damage ramping up the closer you get?

Between that and the visuals of the water changing (it literally turns red and starts to bubble) as you get closer, I would have turned around seeing the damage my boat was taking if I didn't really know anything about ashlands and didn't know what was going on. I'm sure I would have put two and two together and inferred that the water was boiling hot or something of the like.

Going to have to say this was a case of not taking the game's visual cues seriously enough and pressing on when you should have been more cautious. There probably should be some audio for the steam rising up, but still.

Nah... this is a case of making up crap. People do this for any game design they want changed. It is especially prominent in open-world PvP games. You could add a respawn anywhere on the map after death system, and we would still have people saying the game is unplayable due to spawn camping. You can have a criminal system with flagging intent and harsher loot penalties for being criminal, and not be full-loot loss unless you are criminal, having many systems in place to match the grind with the risk, and we would still have people on the forums saying full-loot is gonna kill the game.

People are either delusional, bored, or think making up scenarios will change the game to more how they want it.

:D seems there need to be more things like the boiling water

The weirdest part of this whole thread to me is people saying the boats can't turn. Valheim's boats are joyfully agile at least on open water, I have no idea what that's about.

not only did OP not pay attention to both patch notes and the update video, but there are people actually lying in here saying they lost the new ship in a single blow lol.

this is crazy skill... issues.
