Any way to automatically clean up drops?
It's always such a issue with this game how the drops add up in some places. Removedrops command is just a one time feature. Is there any way to have items on the ground have a lifetime or something?

Items already disappear automatically if left alone for an hour while outside the radius of any base objects like workbenches or torches. Dump your trash somewhere out of the way where you won't accidentally pick it up again, or build an Obliterator to delete the items in a flash.

At my warehouse I have two 'recycle' bins I drop stuff I have too much of, anything else I don't want but somehow picked up goes either in the trash dump out back (in case I don't know whether they'll ever be useful), or off the end of my pier where they'll sink in the deep water and despawn.

If you need to remove things in a hurry (for whatever reason) and aren't able to wait for despawn outside of a workstation radius, or use an Obliterator, you can enable devcommands and use the console to enable debugmode. Then, on a PC, the default key to clear item drops in a radius around you is L.

Note that this does not discriminate, so exercise caution if you choose to use console commands.
