whats the deal with campfires in ashlands
i finally made to ashlands in my no map, no portal world. up to this point, ive been placing a lot of campires to get the good old 8 minutes of rest, but when i place a campfire on the ground in ashlands, it sets the nearby ground on fire and then burns out. i understand that ashlands has a fire spread mechanic but the campfire is the only object in the area other than the ground itself.

the wood inside the campfire will burn faster due to the heat in ashlands biome space. the same happens with the siege ram fuel etc. kinda like the hot tub water boils inside the biome.

just stuff more wood inside it to keep it going a bit longer. the ground in ashlands can catch fire. this fire wont damage the ground. its just meant for immersive hazard i guess.

is the hearth not affected similarly? i made a base with a hearth and it seems to consume wood normally. it is under a roof.

I suspect (can't confirm, barely in Ashlands myself) that the roof makes the difference.

If an ash storm won't ignite workbenches etc under a well roofed structure, then likely the fire won't burn as fast.
But it may be so, if the hot tub will still remain past comfortable temperatures within a structure.

This isn't helpful because it's speculation, but maybe the food for thought will help somebody confirm it.

My fire seemed to last longer than when it was out in the open, anyway.

anything that keeps the weather effects away will stop it burning faster. the shield works aswell iirc.

but its probaly cheaper to just stuff more wood into it than carrying the shield materials around if you just need it to refresh rested.

Stone vs Wood...

yeah I noticed with Fire Spreading on, if a fire catches right next to a lit campfire, it makes said campfire consume fuel at a very high rate for some reason (probably a bug) until it just goes out from lack of fuel. Plus, it constantly starts fires nearby, so this happens often enough to be annoying.

I haven't been playing with fire spreading on lately, I figured they would have fixed this by now.
