Classic. We all went there. Like the first time were my mates and me entered the swamps for the first time... first reality check. Then came the plains... back when all those youtubers started stacking carves along the coastline to get their stuff back, mainly because they thought the plains looked nice and the best they had was leather armour or troll hide. Mistlands were also nice for those who gotten complacent being used to the 'then easy' plains, due to being in the endgame gear for the time.
Ashlands was another such increase in difficulty, that lead to people getting another rude awakening.
But the one thing I remembered the most was that one friend who used to say things like "come on guys! It's just one more crypt until we start bringing the iron back! What can possibly go wrong?" and then we had to get the other boat to retrieve our stuff out of the swamp. Good times.^^
Even the fulling villages are easy if you take it slowly and use arrows to pull as many of them out one at a time, or small groups until you have cleared most of the village and then head in for the shaman or zerker and your prizes.

Also plains are not crowded with mobs, deathquitos are easy to be overseen but they use a simple attack pattern, at first attack they fly straight to you, after attack they fly around you until attacking again straight line, ya shall block and attack with a fast weapon after attack or take it out with bow.
You shall also make a save portal nearby at best on high (raised) ground. The raised hill helps not with deatquitos but it ´s good to not getting surrounded, this is also a good tactic to raid a furling camp while you take the attackers down with arrows from the hill, take out Shamans first, then furling spear throwers. Being a decent archer helps alot in plains as you´ve a good sight. If you not a decent player, don´t use medium and light armor and get the highest AC you can get so making mistakes, isn ´t a sudden death.
For me the most dangerous mobs in plains are growths at they snare you when they hit, try to kite and take´ em out with bow and always keep away from their range attack, if you feel safe you can also try to lure them into other monsters like lox so they are distracted and you can snipe then.
One Important rule in Valheim if you don ´t know is, monsters attack always the enemy that is nearest to them and afaik nothing in plains like the growths. ^^
