Valheim

My biggest complaint about this game...
I love this game but...

I find the inventory system is so very frustrating. Why are items that are equipped taking up valuable slots in my inventory?

I'm so tired of constenting having to dump all the crap out of my bags to make space for things I need. I'm tired of breaking down a stone cutter to move it, getting to the other side of my base and realizing I didn't pick up the 2 iron ingots because along the way I picked up 3 resins, 2 pine cones a greydwarf eye and 3 bukeperries (again).

There is progression in this game, I wish increasing bag space would be part of it.

And why no paper doll for the characters gear?

Edit: and the pick up radius is too small imo.

My 2nd complaint is the finicky nature of bench/forge upgrades (placement). Why?

I think it is stated somewhere that the inventory was designed that way to have some sort of inventory management. So you have limited space and need to priotize your stuff. Some kind of slots for armor would be nice. But i dont think that will be implemented because of this "system".
I agree with the second complaint. That could have some love.

My biggest beefs are the carpal tunnel inducing plant farming system, lack of ability to rename chests and the issues of hitbox on fighting mobs above or below you on terrain not landing. Overall a great game.

I agree with this point in particular. It'd be nice to have some kind of item pickup blacklist. I've never run around a survival map picking up EVERYTHING. There's stuff I need, stuff I don't need right now, and stuff I'll never need (bukeperries -- I got all the bukeperries I'll ever need already for every time I wanna puke on a clanmate).

Mods probably wouldn't be the best long-term decision for something of this nature -- the lack of paper doll, for example, is definitely a design choice, while an adjustable blacklist of things to avoid picking up would be a less-intensive solution to a cross-platform issue. (Xboxers can't use mods to solve these kinds of issues, unfortunately.)

My dude, we have mods.
All you do is install Bepinex (on this website)
Then drag and drop the .dll file of any mod into the Bepinex Plugins folder.
Whole process takes literally a minute.

Why something which can be done by mod but will not be done by devs? After all it's one of the most sought after QoL.

Maybe they don't want to?
Besides, all have to do is drop a .dll into your plugins folder. It takes seconds.
Devs don't want to provide something which is sought after by player pool, in an EA game. Hmm.

Have you ever thought that it's their game and their vision and that maybe their intention is for the inventory system to be the way it is?
Besides, they gave you modding support, so if you don't like something, you can change it.
Their game!? They are making the game for people who are playing and as in EA stage, any developer should listen to the feedback from player base, more when they got such awesome response from the community, 3 years has passed and they still can't address the up and down aiming for melee weapons but proceeds to make hilly and slope fest bioms, speaks more than a little about them. I died more to that silly mechanics than anything else.

If they ever remove that combat mechanic, I would probably instantly mod it back in. It makes combat so much more interesting in different terrains than just walking up to an enemy and hitting them, while the terrain is just a backdrop to look at. Especially for light armour users how the terrain combat works is usually to your benefit, since enemies have to face the same mechanic but are not capable to position themselves so they can hit - but players of course are.

When did that happen? The FAQ page still says:
Currently, Valheim doesn't have official mod support.
People just do it anyway, since C# games are so easy to mod. They don't really need to give modding support for people to change the game how they like it to have for their specific needs.

Have we played the same game!? Enemies can literally hit you from anywhere, they don't have the up and down aiming penalty, go try with wolves in Mountain biom and Seeker soldier in Mistalnd. Not to forget the total illogical and absurd angle of this so called 'mechanics'. You can't hit a guck sack coz it's 2 inch up than your swing hitbox, gotta make a 2 inch high wood platform to hit it, wow, what an amazing mechanics!
