Fulling totems super rare
We have been destroying fulling villages lft and right
We got 1000 dark iron

But only 2 fulling totems

Yes we been killing the big berskers.

Using RNG to stop progress is insanely bad design
Make Totem craftable

20 Dark iron
10 Fine wood
5 Grey eyes

its a common find. Try another plain island if you re unlucky. also stone structures , not only villages
Faceplant Jun 13, 2024 @ 10:22pm
In a village they're plainly visible. There's no need to attack a village if you don't see at least one. They also always can be found in the squatter of the two fuling towers. I think the shamen drop them pretty often now as well.

Just my opinion, some finite resources should remain un-craftable.

You can also find them in the towers and other buildings.

rng can make things possible one can not imagine.
I had something similar with swamps and crypts on a seed i played. I ended up looking up the map online after the third or fourth ironless swamp and found the closest crypts were that far out I just created a new map...

Imo it's not a good idea to leave critical progression elements solely to rng. Computed rng is in no way comparable with rolling a dice regarding the distribution of results. Maybe that is underetimated by more developers than we might suspect.

This is true. Usually it's no problem locating a swamp crypt, but this one world I had to search 8 good sized swamps before I ever found 1

They're in the towers too, I have a stack and a bit of them

You would be amazed how many of these problems can be solved by just sailing around.

You can spot many crypts from the water on your ship, and you don't have to slog through a swamp to do it.

You can find fuling villages, towers, stonehenge, even Yagluth spawns from a ship without running around in the plains. You might even be able to see the totem in a village from the ship if the village is near the water.

You can even find mines in Mistlands just sailing around the shoreline. Just watch the slanted rock and look for lights or steps. If it's out of render range, you usually can tell if there's a mine there by the configuration of the ground under the rock.

So the solution is...........
Spend more time sailing around looking for buildings, making a bed, getting totem, sailing more and get back and hope you see a totem near the beach on an island?

You'll have to work out the logistics of how you get the totems, and most of the time you'll have to investigate a village to see if it has a totem, but you just have land the boat nearby and to get near it and look around. If you don't see one, get back in the boat and move on.

Like I said, one of the two towers always has a totem (the squatter one with more "stuff" on top), and you can easily see those from the water.

Totems rare since when?
By the time when we get the first 100 black metal scraps we already have the 5 totems easily and usually just leaving the village/outpost/stonehenge with a lot more.

he's right. sailing around and checking shores. You want biggest biomes. For swamp crypts and plains mainly

I am at 500 ore and 500 ingots of dark metal
With only 2 totems.

Also I found out totems can be destroyed by damage

If you don't want to spoil your current seed, try another random seed in the world generator[valheim-map.world] and key in Boss Items:Totems. This might at least let you know about the scarcity of the objects.
