No, we built in a finished biome, the mistlands and I at least built it month before they warned us or did they warn us at the release of mistlands?
Not really disappear, more like float high above the ocean.
no you didnt. you build right next to an unfinished biome.
and well. they did warn you that areas AROUND unfinished biomes would get affected. with example pictures even. you choose to ignore that warning. plenty of time to move the build.
They say if you leave it unexplored prior to update it should mostly work...but theres always weirdness that's not worth the hassle of using an old save for new content.
mistlands was the biggest chance to map terrian they ever did simply because the biome spreads. so way bigger areas where affected. while the moment they confirmed that ashlands and deep north wouldnt spread and be isolated instead it was clear : aslong as you stay the ♥♥♥♥ away from the north and south map edges your world is fine.
people who say its its "obvious to start all over with a major update" arent paying attention at all. valheims characters arent world bound. so makeing new characters each time is definitly never required nor obvious. its the total opposite. the sole exception is if the devs make changes to characters or how skill leveling works. then a restart is a good idea of course. but when there is zero changes? why? game is clearly designed to be played longterm.
like when an update clearcut shows that it has zero changes for the first half of the game then why replay that same content you already did again for no good reason?
you do that when there is a major addition thats new for said content. but there wasnt. especially not with ashlands at all.
so aslong as you didnt venture down south (or north for the next and last biome) your world is FINE.
major terrian changes outside of these 2 unfinished biomes aint happening anymore according to the devs.
and unexplored parts of the map will auto update themselfs just fine aswell.
alot of players keep thier maps or wanna keep thier maps because they build a cool ass base and wanna get a use out of that base for future updates. of course when you do that as a player you should make sure to build it somewhere where new changes are the least likely to affect it overall. the devs just wont give an assurance that old maps will keep working. but they always TEST new updates with way older maps aswell just to see how they will react. and when they see problems they post about it and warn players. just like they did with the ashlands changes.
Just FYI, I did exactly that, I did not venture anywhere. I went to the nearest queen I could find. Still got f-ed.
And to Nerevar, I'm not sure where I said make a new character, I said new world lol.
your map shown in the other thread shows you ventured into the deep north and very close to it aswell on other parts. and you went there and didnt bother to fight her either. why go there when you dont plan on fighting her?
None of your business and not the problem. It was also the only way there as you can see the island is extremely long to the south. Anyway old biomes should not regenerate with new content at all.
As someone else put it perfectly, the devs show no respect for the players time.
Edit: One last thing. I was able to fix my world, because apparently modders can update a world without breaking things while devs don't care. If anyone is interested:
