GE proton might work

I forget what I am running it on, but it runs fine, and uses Vulcan shaders

isn't this a Linux native game? It is being developed on Linux so you should not have issues getting it to run.

you don't need Proton to run Valheim on Linux, Steam will autoinstall the Linux version unless you specify that you want to use Proton in the Game properties. Then Steam will install the Windows version instead.

If you really want to use the Windows version then the latest stable version of Proton should work fine.

Personally I use a tweaked version of Proton made by "Glorious Eggroll" that I already have installed for playing Final Fantasy XIV. I have found the GE version of Proton to be stable and reliable for all the games I've tried it with so I would recommend getting the GE version.

You can get the Proton GE from here
https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases
Site also has the instructions on how to install the version so it is available in Steam.

Good luck o7
