Jewelcrafting-mod: Cannot use fusion-boxes

For the players, that use the Jewelcrafting mod too: how do you use the fusion boxes ? I found all 3 types, but i cannot add gems into the sockets for melting, they just don go into the window.

(the same effect i have with the herbalism mod, just cannot use the mortar&pestle, i can click tabs but not work or add something and there is nothing shown in the menus. is there a conflict maybe ?)
