I suggest to go to YT and check videos from popular Valheim content creators (Jiroc, JP Valheim, Kysen…). They are using good and reliable servers for their communities.
Server hosting sites are often their sponsors and you can save some money if you register through their link in video description.
Hello!
Just a Linux Server and make it with your own. You can you your Laptop or second PC that´s usable for yours usage. It is enough.
People are going to provide very subjective answers based on their feelings regarding this.
Where you are located in relation to your server hosting, the services provided(lots of support/hand holding, lite, or none, pricing, and more all have merit to consider.
So I simply recommend for you to start with what services are provided close to you(to minimize latency) and then go from there regarding the priorities of your wants otherwise.
This is a very good answer.
Everything he said + don't sign a y long term deal. Try it for a week or two and then decide if the lag/latency etc. is right for you.
When I rented a server, I used a local server to test both current and new mods. Each has their strengths and weaknesses.
You might encounter network and sync issues in ashlands regardless of the provider though.
You might need to install a network patch before going there, because it is borderline unplayable with vanilla in mp.
