Valheim

Valheim

2025 roadmap
Is there a roadmap for Valheim 2025 or some sort of direction the developers are headed?

No roadmap, no. We'll get more details on 1.0 and upcoming changes in the coming months, most likely.

Valheim didn't even follow it's only original roadmap. Why believe it if they gave one for 2025 when it was never followed to begin with?
No roadmap, no deadline.

We are waiting for the last biome update which will make Valheim 1.0

The last two biome updates took more than a year each, so if they keep the same pace we can expect to see Valheim 1.0 sometime around the end of this year. Maybe even early 2026.

In the last interview, one of developers said they are currently working on the last biome, but there will also be some minor changes on the other biomes.
Keep your eyes at Monthly development blog here on steam (under Events and Announcements forum) for more info.

Once you see Deep North is in Public Test Branch (PTB), you can expect it to go live in one month.

Man, such negativity.

They admitted they screwed up by putting up a roadmap. They didn't realize how big of a project they had in front of them and thought it would be quicker than it actually was. But if you paid attention to WHAT was on the roadmap instead of the WHEN on the roadmap, it's for the most part following along the same lines. Though it does seem they may never get around to the Ocean biome stuff.

Then again, who knows what is meant by the Deep North?
Deep North is guaranteed. They seem fickle with word on the Ocean biome, I understand that since they wouldn't want to add too much to it, and treat it as moreso a "no man's land" type of area that is just used for transport and faster traversal (and necessary) to other parts of the land. But there have been plenty of suggestions for what Ocean biome could have well within vanilla Valheim's theme and style.

Other than that, if they aren't burnt out or see further incentive. The OG roadmap is still useful as they have added things that they listed in it into the game post it's removal. I do feel that they have are planning to add a lot of the things remaining in it (but as seen by the ashlands fortress difference between concept and final product, seem to run out of time/resources), notably; multiplayer fixes (i'm not affected as i play solo or coop, but i seen the video on it and there are problems with multiplayer so that'd be worth to address), combat improvements, more POIs (i feel especially with the addition of frost caves, the Hildir's request miniboss POIs (unfortunately the rewards from those bosses are purely cosmetic apart from one set that gives stamina reduction bonuses iirc), and the individual Dyrnwyn POIs including Lord Reto's tomb), and moon phases - and judging by the fact they added northern lights and such, the latter update is most likely.

It's hard to judge since in terms of communication about development, there isn't much. Teasers show little and end up fueling impatience in people, word on actual development, such as mentioning that Ashland Fortresses are seeming too ambitious for their deadlines, or simply too much coding/effort wise, and might address them in the future, would be better arguably as it would allow us insight on the situation. Ignorance and frustration tends to stem from a lack of understanding/information.

But i'd say that they do have great ideas and do want to implement them to their best standard, but seem to be bottlenecked by time, resources, expertise etc. If it's the latter, i hope they would take the opportunity to reach out to other developers/experts to help them, to consequently save time, effort, and they might also learn new things that are more efficient and beneficial for everyone. It's up to them though.

by the time they put out that roadmap they had already made the first 5 biomes, they knew how long each one took them to make, there was no excuse for falling so far behind the schedule that they set

I urge you to join IG's discord and tell this to them; see what happens.

This.

When they threw out their original roadmap after their MASSIVE success ($$$$$) I stopped paying attention to what they are doing

I find the first part of Valheim very interesting but the later updates looked to me more as if this company had lost its way and implemented new updates with forced thoughts and nightmares.the forced complicated updates and as a result many facilitations.I also looked for other games that I play today and the behavior towards Linux has pretty much repelled me.
The first parts are still fascinating even if winter areas are unpleasant, but many things were artificially complicated.

My opinion is rather that they have lost their way maybe new updates will come but in the end they would rather invest in new game systems also in Satis Faction they are lost that was one of the reasons why I did not play it for a long time.

you guys remember when they tried to get the "labor of love" a year or two ago and got clowned on by the entirety of steam lmao
they ended up locking the post

Besides the rabid loyalists defending IG, nothing.
