Is there any way to build a Lighthouse?
I went looking for threads but they are all 3+ years old and say you can't, is that still true? The sticking point was you couldnt place a bonfire on stone floors.

That information wasn't true back then, and isn't true now; campfires and bonfires can be placed on ground, stone, and black marble surfaces. I haven't tried placing them on grausten but I wouldn't be surprised if the game would let me.

This lighthouse I once built stands 36 meters tall and is comprised of stone and vertical wood iron beams. The bonfire rests on stone floors forming the ceiling of the lighthouse.

Raise an Earth pillar.
On a break from and no pics but, pretty sure I put a bonfire on stone blocks.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Current playthrough, no mods, started last weekend.
Only stone blocks used, no iron beam at all.

you can make a fire up high but you cannot SEE the fire from very far away. The game limits the draw distance of player created objects rather more than it probably should.
I recommend the crystal cube windows around the bonfire for effect, if you go all in.

FoV is pretty generous IMO, not sure how far you would like to see, but for me i think it is at a good amount.

Its fine until you are trying to see a bonfire from way far away, like on a boat looking for your lighthouse :)

Ah, makes sense, i wouldn't know, i am no where near good enough to do a No-Map, so i have no need for lighthouses. but i can see the reason now. So thank you.

Indeed. Last time I built a light house you could see the house long before you could see the light which is backwards from what it should be.

I mean, i guess it still serves it's purpose as a land marker. :D

Yeah, but the idea behind it for me was to use it at night when I was out sea serpent hunting.

Oh, in that case, it is pretty useless, sorry to hear.
