You are being hunted
Can the "you are being hunted' wolf event happen in any biome outside of your base? Just wondering if I need to be a litttle more cautious now even at the meadows farm (or more specifically while travelling there, its a bit of a hike)

First play-through since pre-Mistlands. Last time I played when I went there it was just an empty flat biome with mist and nothing else.

Doing a no-map/portal run, and while slow, is the most fun I've had gaming in many years. I am nearing day 300 and just killed Bonemass.

Yes, that event can happen in the mountains and in the plains, even without you having any base nearby.

Current mistland is a land of jagged stone spikes and sheer cliffs.

I am doing a no portal, no map run right now as well. Currently still exploring my starter island and smelting copper. Getting to the second island was easy, but I would not have been able to find my way back if I didn't immediately built a giant arrow pointing there. I don't think I want to ever risk a boat trip on the open ocean without having land firmly in sight.

Can the event also occur while travelling across black forest and meadows?

Never happened to me in these. The wiki says it only happens in mountains and plains and lasts for 2min.

Thanks! I missed it on the wiki, didn't scroll down far enough.

I was probably in too much of a rush to get off of a Fandom, ha joke. My ad-blocker takes care of it but still despise that site.

I've had it happen several times in plains, never in mountains on 2 playthroughs. I know the wiki says it can happen in mountains but I'm skeptical, especially given how often it was in the Plains.

Maybe there are some other restrictions that make it less likely on the mountains, like perhaps a maximum height or requiring flat ground. Or maybe the random chance is just 10x higher on plains or something. Don't know, but it feels way too unlikely to just be equal random chances.

It definitely happened to me in both biomes multiple times. If you have a farm in the plains you will definitely get more events there.
I've had the "you are being hunted" raid occur while I was sailing past a mountain. No plains any where near.
Last time it happened to our band when we were sailing from ashlands back to spawn - right in the middle of the ocean.

i only have experience you are being hunted event in the mountains and in plains area.
In 1-2 cases it even happen while i was sailing on a river with plains area on both sides and the wolf all jumped into the water and swim after me.

Some areas of the ocean qualify as being part of another biome, and unfortunately the raid doesn't check to see if you actually have terra firma beneath your feet.

I had a picture of that in my screenshots, but one of my reinstalls trying to fix the save issues with the game ate it.
I've been hunted a few times when sailing, so yeh, it can trigger anywhere

yes - I had one go off on me while I was on a ship - granted it was navigating a river with Plans on either side but it was quite fun to watch clumps of wolves doggy-paddling after the ship themselves being pursued by fuling.

It can trigger when sailing, because not all water counts as Ocean. Most coastal water counts as other biomes, so my guess is that you were sailing through an area that the game designated 'Plains'.

There's a screenshot of when I was sailing by a plains area and the event triggered. Funny part is my summoned skeles were following me underwater and fought the wolves beneath the boat.
