You can brew poison resistance meads with materials found in the Meadows and Black Forest. Construct a mead ketill to brew mead bases, and fermenters to put the bases in.

Poison resistance mead base is 10 honey, 5 thistle, 1 neck tail, and 10 coal. A single mead base will create six potions.
You can get root gear from the abominations in swamp that as poison resist on it.

Where as this is true and useful, they'll want the actual potion for the boss.
The poison mead is stronger than the root mask. You should still brew some for the fight.

If you're up to the point where you fight him, you should have all ingredients available to brew that potion yourself.

If you can't craft it, did you have the mead kettil build? If not, that should be a priority, as meads will become more important the further you get into the game.

Also, why ask here?
You might as well enable dev-commands and spawn the mead in.
Which is even easier as crafting it.

Except you won't learn much of the mechanics, but that's not my problem.

you can console summon the mead faster than you can set up multiplayer to get help.

You really should learn to make meads, though. You can fight the system but its best to just make the stuff as poison resist helps against the mistlands boss too, fire resist helps multiple places esp ashlands and plains boss. Healing and stamina never go out of style. Having a bit of frost resist helps too, for all of the mountains and also if you encounter anything later than shoots frost at you (you will). Mead is not quite as big a deal as food, but its a key mechanic in the game.

Or he could turn the game on easy, and make mobs passive. Why not go all the away once you flop out the console cheats.

Is it? I was using the root mask for a good while, it makes you practically invulnerable to the poison effect. I don't know how the potion can possible be somehow stronger.

But yea, the trick to defeating the Bonemass is the poison resistance effect. With it, killing the thing changes from apparently impossible to outright trivial. You still have to pump some 2000 fire arrows into it, sure, but now you won't die while doing it.
That is something I really don't understand. Why would anybody want to kill Bonemass with arrows? It's pretty much resistant to anything but the mace. Killing Bonemass with a mace takes less time than the time till the poison resistance potion runs out. And no, you don't need to be over-geared for it. Regular lvl 3 iron armor, shield and mace will do the trick.

My apologies for the off-topic.

The mead is stronger, yes. Just the mask is fine for most swamp activity. But against Bonemass with just a mask, I wouldn't go so far as to say "invulnerable" or "trivial".
