Give them a shot and see how you fair
There IS "magic" in it, with elemental weapons and effects and even wands in relatively late game, but it's not that prominent. Don't expect going in playing a wizard.
The combat... does the job. At least there's some ways to parry and stun enemies, there's bows and crossbows to add to your arsenal too.
It's third person (and first person too) and the world isn't procedurally generated. There's a lot of secrets to find, and beside loot and rare materials, you'll occasionaly get permanent upgrade points out of them. Exploration is IMO the strong suit of the game.
Also, there's a randomizer for future playthroughs once you're done with your first run, and community levels to mix up the game's experience.
There is a plot, that will guide you to the end of the game. Getting the better endings and finding / fighting the optional bosses will require some extra attention on your part.
Building is as fun or as skippable as you want. The main difficulty being finding a good spot and bringing materials there if you want to make a big base.
If you're ok with small settlements and lying down crafting stations in random places you can do that too. There's no hard need for roofed spaces to sleep - the sleeping staion provide that - but there's still a buff associated with comfort if you make a base.
And while you can't teleport in this game, with ziplines - and the zipline upgrade you get at some point - you can do your own network of fast travel stations. Pretty fun IMO.
The crafting include everything you want except vehicles - but you don't really need them in this game.
I would try grounded and probably will like it....
I have V-Rising and have played it extensively... it does have a lot of the things I am looking for listed above but it is very pvp based. Although i am a PVPer at heart and somehow found Valheim tobe one of the best games despite being pve (yes i know they have friendly fire you can turn on the fight other players pvp), the Pvp in V-rising is deadly... you get ganked 100% of the time if your solo and if you battling with ppl fights take like forever... now with the new update they got in castle pvp dueling zones so its kinda moot i think but Zentun is right that the bosses are fun AF and I would recommend the game for anyone as it is worth at least a play through for the money... the castle building is fun and combat is pretty good over all... but the ganking.... hehe
but Electric dawn is right tho.. it is a totally different game. Vaheim is a RPG vrising is something totally different the genre has a name i just dont know it. I played some old games just like it but that was a long time ago and it wasnt all vampire.
I really do appreciate you guyzes input so far and hope to uncover something I havent found.
If anyone wants to know i have still be doing searching and found a New game with all the qualifications except magic so its kinda not everything i wanted but it seems pretty good other then its like virus/zombie style which is usually always lame
check it out though system seems pretty cool and there is a full playable demo that is pretty extensive
Its Blight The last Plague on Steam
Here are a few....
Breakwaters
Bellwright
Forever Skies
The Planer Crafter
Nightingale
Sons of the Forest
Survival: Fountain of youth (Long Dark mechanics)
Sunkenland.
Forever skies just hit 1.0 a month ago.
PLanet crafter hit 1.0 a few months ago and has a major free update next week.
Bellwright just had a major update a month ago.
Edit.... Dawn of Defiance is getting a major update in June and reminded me of a greek Valheim.
Nightingale looked like it had the most intrigue but could go either way, sons of the forest was popular at one point but i think other games just stepped over it... Sunkenland looked pretty good but no one reeeeally likes being at water thaaaat much =o ( probably why sailors in rl are how they are.... ) i know, Subnautica did pretty good, meh+/_)
Planet* crafter and the others i think all seemed ok but There is a MMO game with a DUNE (the movie/book) theme coming out in June (about 3 weeks it says) that looks really good -building -crafting -combat, and what was showing in preview video, -vehicles, that looked awesome! so i think I'm just excited about that coming out, to give it a try
again thank you all for feedback scouring endless genre lists of games attempting to find ones with worth is easier with others input =) so ty
More focus on the village and villagers, but not much story yet. Prefab buildings, so no blocks like in Valheim. Today's patch added a party system, allowing a limited number of villagers to follow you and take direct orders.
Might be worth a peek, as it hasn't been mentioned yet.
Soul Mask
Blight: the last plague
Enshrouded
Conan Exiles
But please note that the playable demo is more than half a year old and a lot has happened in terms of development since then.
That said, the demo really got us hooked and we bought the main game straight away, which for my partner and I was absolutely worth it in terms of enjoyment.
We had a lot of fun with this Early Access - game and it is well worth the price, also in terms of gameplay time and current content. About 50% of the landmass has been completed so far, there are already several mini bosses and currently four main bosses (two of them in larger dungeons). And of course the night encounters.
As for base building, a single base is enough, the teleportation system is quite ingenious. However, you can also build a second base to make it fully night-focused - the enemies are after the player character, not his buildings, so you can get there in time before nightfall.
The development team is small but very active. Bugs are fixed as quickly as possible and legitimate bug reports are taken seriously, which is a big plus for me. Major updates are released fairly regularly.
Note: A Steam account is sufficient for the demo version (which can only be played solo) and the single player mode. However, an Epic account is (additionally) required to play in the recently added co-op mode.

Have fun!
It is on the cozier side of survival/craft rpgs, with a main focus on ecology.
Building is minimal as the main focus is gardening.
As it is cozy, the fighting isn't too expanded but most of what you can do is magical in nature.
A fixed world to explore and reshape as you want.
You can fly.
Palworld
Fixed world.
Base building.
Stat increasing and equipment crafting.
Creature-catcher for the magic part.
Guns.
Flying and gliding.
Underdog against big N's army of lawyers abusing pattent (not copyright) laws.
Core keeper
A top-down Terraria with more directed scenario.
As terraria, all building is 2D.
Simple but efficient magic system.
A fair number of bosses.
Terraria
The OG "2D Minecraft".
Except with a finite world, an actual progression of tech and bosses, magic and the ability to increase permanently some attributes.
Modded minecraft on a dedicated map, such as the Dregora modpack
I think the survival/crafting steam festival already went by this year, so further research will have to be done manually with game tags or curator lists.
