When did the Eitr refinery start doing damage to buildings? (or me)
As the title says. I've had mine in a building long enough to create enough eitr for 2x magic sets, 2x each type of staff and anything else that needs refined eitr plus having around 30 refined in stock. Today all of a sudden my building is starting to fall down. I know it hasn't happened until today. TIA

Slowly getting damaged and finally fell down today? I dunno. Only kind of building material it doesn't destroy is black marble.

They have always done damage. The raw eitr sitting on the ground will too.

In addition to black marble, Iron cage walls and floors are also safe, and of course earth walls. I stuck mine in a hole with an iron cage roof. Not pretty, but easy to do.

Didn't know about the iron cage walls and floors. Do the iron gates work? Wouldn't mind putting a door on my refinery building.

It definitely wasn't slow. I've had it in this building since I first made it and only today did it start damaging stuff. At the rate it was damaging the building 2x20 refined eitr would have had the building destroyed.

I guess I'll look to move it further away and encase it in black marble. Thanks for the info about black marble.

Edit: I guess for whatever reason I've been lucky that it wasn't doing damage from day 1. Or unlucky depending on how you want to look at it.

I haven't tried it, but I assume so.

I just built the refinery out in the middle of nowhere so no damage to base to worry about, some reason I choose right in the middle of the Ashlands with no portal near by, why? I don't know?

Iron Gates work. I've seen the one I put on my refinery cage absorb sparks.

It's an annoying mechanism, and the structure you build for it in your base kinda looks like an eyesore.

Mine looks like a jail. :steamhappy:

A big block of marble, space for 2 refineries, a stairs inside with some iron floors so i can stand on top of putting in that tissue (why on earth so high). It functions, but it is really ugly.

The refinery doesn't cause damage, it's the eitr itself. So if you're doing a lot of refining and letting all the radioactive eitr pile up on the ground or floor, it's going to cause multiplying amounts of damage around it unless the sparks are contained properly.

It causes extra damage while the machine is running.

Is it possible you weren't near enough to it for it to render for awhile, and when you went near all the built up damage over time applied at once?

We should be allowed to craft a small black marble chamber that only allows sparks to fly in one direction, then place as base defence so mobs are sporadically shot.

I've been at my base most of the time that I was refining eitr. I've even stood at the dispenser and waited for it to appear when I was desperate for the stuff and no damage.

The day it finally started damaging my base I could hear the "hits" and thought something had somehow got inside my defenses. There is no way I missed it for the 100's of refined eitr I've created. Not sure why it wasn't before but it sure is now and so now it's encased in black marble. Which is good as I was looking for something to build to use that stuff.
