Mobs are spawning in my base
Hello, I got a little problem with mobspawn... I builded some "defenses"... I dug down a hole, so mobs will fall into it. Well... That's not happening... Mobs are spawning into my base. Do you know how to prevent that?

Workbenches have a radius (same as their build radius) that prevents mobs spawning inside of it. Standing torches, campfires, other crafting benches, and probably some other things I'm missing also do the same, but you can't see their radius. I like to use standing torches as they are cheap and don't take up much space. They don't have to be burning to work.

I read about workbenches... It doesn't work for me. I placed them problably everywhere, around my base.

You can use things other than workbenches, like beds, portals, fires, all crafting stations, etc.

Here’s a list of almost every object that prevents spawns nearby it: https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Player_base

If you have any space at all (even a tiny space) that is not covered by the build radius of a workbench, torch, fire, etc, then stuff can and will spawn in that little space.

Mobs generally don't fall into holes unless they are pushed. In fact you would be semi-safe in a hole yourself, very useful when mining silver, not so great if one wolf pushes another in there with you.

Instead dig a trench around the whole base and take advantage of their reluctance to go into holes and their inability to climb steep angles.

For the workbenches, carry a small beam blueprint (or any other piece that's not a campfire or log bench) around and make sure it is buildable in every inch of your base. You can build if you stand in range and stretch the piece out of range, so keep it right at your feet to ensure there are no gaps anywhere. After you do that then you could replace a workbench with something else in the list if you want to, just make sure its in the exact same spot.

Mobs don't fall down holes? Have you ever played Valheim? Have you ever mined copper below ground? lol.

Place a workbench, see the radius? Now pickaxe one time in the ground in front of the workbench, place a campfire in the hole, use hoe to level the ground and hide it, cover with grass, leave workbench there so you have radius marker, move to edge of radius, rinse, repeat. Do this until everything is covered and then enemies won't spawn.
