Just happened. Wiki says mountains and plains only.

Could it be one of the mods I'm runn'n?

Could be a mod or if you are on the border of one of those biomes. Are you running the Monstrum mod? I can't recall if it has added raids.

I have a feeling its "Seasons" by Shudnal that is causing it. It was "winter" so basically i suspect he turns the whole map into mountains. I can tell you it caught me off guard on a hardcore play. I was pulling cart with about 6 stacks of silver ore and I was half way home in the middle of the night hung up in a little creek on the starter island.

I like Zen Raids mod for this reason. I have meadows set for no raids.
So i dont have to ruin my picturesque pastoral builds with dirt walls and moats.

I just raise my entire base by about 3 feet, using pike walls as a guide, leaving the tips of the pike walls above ground. I enjoy the challenge of making a base defensible, but I understand.

It would all most have to be the mod. The raid spawn for a "you are hunted raid" looks at the exact tile your character is standing in at the time the raid triggers and it has to be a mountain or plains tile for that raid. Though you can have places where the tiles are intermingled like this swamp feature in the middle of the plains that turned out to be a frost cave entrance when I went down the stairs and mined out the rock:

That's why you can get hunted raids while sailing. If the tile is down more than 4 meters it shows as water and ocean but its still part of its land biome.
