Dane here
"Morgen" means morning in Norvegian and Danish, Morgon in Swedish
Maybe that makes sense?
There're several other Scandinavian words in Valheim. Moder = Mother, Fader = Father. Brenna means burn in swedish etc.

They are eternally young, they are one of a race of creatures with origins in
British and Welsh mythology, and they can be seen as having a connection
to Norse magick. That is at least what the internet says.

I think it's a mass of bones and flesh that got packed together in the battlefield. Now the tortured souls of the dead animate it by their common thirst for blood and violence.

I always assumed it to be related to mort, or morg both associated with death.
"Morgen" is a medieval measure of land of about 0.25 - 0.36 hectare.
We always refered to them as chickens on my server. They look like giant skeletal headless chickens to us :D
