Designing farmplots
Can anyone lend aid with how to separate using the 1m and 2m wooden beams for planting turnips and carrots? Trying to get things to line up better so I can increase my planted crop yields and what not.

easiest quickest not most beautiful is just walk backwards and plant at a regular beat (timing) works out pretty good crops are different spacings some can be crowded more i have noticed
That's what I've been doing, it drives me nuts lol!

I gave up that madness and settled for a Grid plant mod, and plop down 9 at a time, they click together after that. Takes same stamina, so you need to eat, but it really is a feature that should be in game.

I'm not for sure what "client side" means but I use this mod and it works great in my game.

I just make a shape like that using 2m wood beams, and plant one row of crops between each row of beams with each plant spaced 1m apart.

make a checkerboard out of floor tiles. Once you have a good feel for that, you will soon do it without the visual guide, but its helpful at first. Pardon the very, very old screenshot but long ago I had a tiny farm set up that way

I usually build a rectangle with 1m beams around my farm plot und use this as a visual guide. Each plant goes right on the line between two of the beams. Next row uses previous row as a guide and so on.
But after some time I usually don't stick to that by pixel and simply take the risk that one or two plants don't grow. The farming skill compensates that.

Also helpful for turnips carrots and onions: if your plot has 9 rows, you can easily plant 3 rows with seed plants after your harvest and you will have enough seeds to plant the whole plot again.
And if you make two plots (one for seed plants, one for harvesting) you can plant the extra seeds on the plot for the seed plants. Maybe that's not 100% optimized regarding space usage, but it's the easiest to keep track and provide that you have your vegetables ready whenever you need them.
Don't use beams. Lay out wooden walkways, change your angle of view so you can see the end of your bed, and plant going forward. If you plant going left to right or right to left you can get plants too close together and they die or too far apart and waste space. The same thing happens if you walk backwards while planting. The game has no built in protections when you plant in those directions.

If you plant walking forward the plant in your "hand" stays red until you have enough space between it and the previous plant for the plant to be healthy. If you click while it is still red you get a "needs cultivated soil error." As long as you don't change plants, or back up, this planting protection stays active. If you are a bit off when you get to the end of the row you can compensate on the next row.

With a little practice you can get straight rows consistently in beds this size.

I use this mod, too, and it's great. Allows you to quickly and easily plant organized rows of crops with no effort. Highly recommended.

strafe sideways and rhythm click.
I look down at a 45° angle, toggle walk mode and left click every time the outline stops being red while walking forward.
Thank you all, for all of the help and advice, greatly appreciated.

Client-side means that the mod will still continue to work on your side, the client's, even after connecting to the server host's side.
