*yawn*.....
A key thing I found was to always make a portal when I go places so I don't get stuck.
What level gear is on your corpse?
It would however, be nice to have the choice to create characters/worlds for two different types of gameplay - Softcore/Hardcore. If you're super casual and you get sick of spending half your gaming time doing corpse runs, there's always Gravekeeper.
Deathsquitos have 10 hp... you should NEVER try to run from them, but face them and hit them once with ANY weapon and they die, They have a predictable pattern of flying straight at a player then pause for a moment before they attack. It's best to shoot them with a bow at range, but if they get close just block and then hit them for the kill.
Deathsquitos have already had a nerf and it's likely they are not getting another one.
The issue is a hard criticism against the death mosquito's mechanics. It is excessive. It is highly frustrating. It might be considered broken when compared to any other elements/experiences in Valheim. My 1 voice and vote to nerf specifically its following range.
and a mace and bow and bunches of arrows
if its dark, wait at your house til morning (cook/craft/refining/farming)
eat good foods before heading out
go slowly, taking mobs a few at a time when you see them
til you get to your corpse, then port back home to swap out gear, repair and store backup gear again
deathsquitos do pack a punch, but have almost no health, any arrow or mace/ax hit can kill them
when you hear the buzz, turn toward it and swing
if you miss, stand still, it will circle you and attack heading straight toward you again
you cannot outrun them
Don't run, save your stamina, they always circle you about a 3\4 circle... just wait with your shield on block for them to strike, then kill them before they can fly off.
Once you get decent armor and food you can laugh at them.
I did land on a plains shore the other day and was hit by a 4 skeeter horde that killed me. That was a good for a lol.
Mosquito's have been nerfed to much, I prefered them when they were lethal, that buzzing sound would make your hair stand on end :).
until you are geared good enough to deal with a few stings, be prepared to die
the fulings can tear you up just as fast
Assuming they don't go "lol y axis ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" and hit you without being hit.
On a serious note, though, I'm entering Plains for the first time and I had to deliberately walk under a Deathsquito to get it to even see me. I'm using the Silver Shield, and once I saw it noticed me simply held the shield up until its attack, and then smacked it out of the sky.
I blocked all the damage and it barely rose my stagger bar at all. ~160 HP/150 Stamina at the time.
I replaced their buzzing sound effect with "Despasito" and as they get closer the music gets louder. "Deathpasquitos". It just adds a level of comedy to it.
Also, if you want to kill them easily, just use the stag breaker or iron sledge. The huge area of effect takes them out easily.
Also, ooze bombs work really well as the second the deathsquito enters the cloud it gets killed.
