There are ways you can manually save or use the console to just give your stuff back to yourself.
But I personally don't see that as playing the game as intended, so I don't.
To save:
ESC -> log out
To load:
CTRL+ALT+DEL -> kill game -> start it again
The "load" is literally "prevent game from saving so it starts from last saved point"
Keep in mind there is autosave every 20min too (it saves only world, not character)
Seems like someone here never played a survival game before. Main feature is the thrill of beeing in danger and not able to save and reload like you want to avoid failure.
The whole game and system is about the possibility of death. Enabling this would pretty much ruin a big aspect of the game - what is your problem? You can recover your items and you can even use mods to reduce the ammount of XP lost.
I really wouldnt do that. Chances are at some point you will corrupt your savegame.
if you crash game outside of the saving procedure it won't corrupt, because game doesn't operate on the save file, it loads everything and keeps it in ram
I wonder about that - i obviously dont know - but are you sure that character progression save is always at the same time as world save?
character doesn't have autosave at all -> so in it's case you don't have to worry about ctrl+alt+del abuse
that's also a reason why crashing people have their characters reverted waaay back while their worlds are partially saved (partially aka revert back to last autosave and stuff between autosave and crash is lost)
