Do Vineberries need sunlight?
I wonder if the vines need to be in sunlight to grow vineberry clusters.

I have a main base in the meadows, where I let some vines groß along the building walls. And a second "base" (actually more a barley farm) in the plains where i have vines inside the stone wall.

Now I find the clusters growing much faster in the plains, and i wonder what it depends on.

The key differences between both places are:

- Meadows vs Plains
- Tthe wall orientation. The vines on my farm are on the south face of the wall.
- Material: wood vs stone

Any ideas or observations about that?

something changed after a few patches, my vines dont re-grow grapes anymore. i will try replanting.

Yeah thats a good theory ive noticed my south facing plants grow more, so that might be a factor, and my base is in the meadows. Ill definitely experiment with this next time im on, since most of what i planted at first barely ever grows anything. Would be nice to have a consistent vineberry farm but it seems their requirements to grow are obscure.

I tested that. Light does not affect plant growth or the north-south orientation and so on. wood and stonewalls seems to do something. they grow faster on wood than on stone.

I might try grauston walls. They grow equally well in shade and sun on stone but I have not (yet) tried grauston....

there is a confirmed issue with vineberrys that are planted currently. they dont seem to fully work as they should. currently its much much faster to stuff a portal inside a vineberry site of respite in the ashlands and harvest them there. you get way more way faster this way. and these sites dont contain any enemy spawns. just dont lure a morgen over there as it can destroy the enitre ruin by just rolling around.

I noticed something, I think it's a bug. I think grapes only grow when the vine expands to a new spot. I could be wrong but that seems kinda consistent. I have one small vine without much room to grow and I have not seen any grapes after it expanded 2 or 3 times. Others, I go to, and don't notice any grapes, turn around, and there are new grapes and the vine expanded a bit.

It's hard to measure cuz it takes time to grow and unless you're watching for it, you probably won't notice it.

I planted some along my stone castle wall in the meadows in cultivated soil and they almost instantly died.

You need sunlight and space. If you plant it down, after a couple of seconds, it should tell you if it needs something.

... and that's kenough ..

Maybe my problem was i thought they needed to be in the soil at the base of the wall... looks like these don't touch the ground.

No you are correct, they do get planted at the base of the wall. Then they disappear for a day or so and re-appear growing like in the screenshot. I planted 1 per 2x6 block so they didn't crowd each other. Like any crop, when you plant them they should give you a "healthy" indicator.

I guess I need to go back and check the spot I planted them. When they disappeared i thought they'd given up the ghost.

Thank you.

well I planted about 20 of them, they grow so slow I ran out of berries anyway in solo... also they need lots of space, it's less trouble to grab em in ruins like he said
