There will be multiple videos that suggest a few confirmed strategy's that work.
There are multiple cheese tactics with clip through walls attacks or confuse/kite/zap with magic or arrows, but I did it with just mitigation, avoidance, and mistwalker/shield.
I always forget about this, but yes, do this if you need to. Ive not changed from moder's power since I got it, and keep forgetting that I have others.
completely false claim. fight is absoluty designed for solo. you can even solo her on very hard it just takes longer.
as for the tc :
stay on the UPPER most floor of the citadel. its completly mist free and you can glide 1 floor down at any point to gain space and breathing room. she can do poisen dmg so bring a few poisen meads. the staff of embers makes her trivial to solo if you have a few levels in elemental magic.staying on the upper floor makes her fall down when she trys to charge at you from a non visible spot.
This update I solo'd her with magic and it was a breeze to do. Did take me around 20-30 minutes, but the arena is specifically designed to allow you to train all the mobs.
Running the lightweight mage gear and my attack using Etir and not Stamina allowed me to just avoid her the entire time.
Had some minor Etir meads that just let me spam attacks for DPS boosts or sometimes saved me in a pinch when I needed a new magic shield.
Put up a portal just outside, so you have a quick means of going back to your base to repair gear, and to help get back fast should you die.
I used Mistwalker, Blackmetal Tower Shield, Demolisher, Arbalest, Bonemass Power, 2 health + 1 Stam Food, Major Healing and Medium Stamina meads, plus Poison Resistance meads. Feather Cape, Carapace armor pieces. At the fights end, Mistwalker was almost broken from use, so I'd suggest bringing a backup 1-handed weapon. Bring and use the Mistlight, as most of the arena is super-misty.
Sword skill was around 40 and Block skill was about 25.
Demolisher is awesome for getting rid of the mobs that constantly spawn. Also, use it to get rid of any static eggs that are there to reduce the adds somewhat as you continue the fight.
The Feather Cape is very helpful. Use it to jump off if on the higher levels to avoid attacks and to give yourself a few moments to regain health and resources. Also, it will prevent you from dying due to fall damage if you get knocked back into the air by the boss' powerful attacks.
The Arbalest didn't seem to do much to her, so I didn't use it much.
Alot of the fight is figuring out the boss's moves and attacks. And note that the boss seems to use different attacks the less health it has. When she spews stuff, sprint or dodge to get out of it, as it will not only damage you but impede your movement and poison you. also, the spew will also contain the broodlings, which form an annoying mobs that will seek you out. Another attack she has is a very long charge where she lunges a huge distance. Also, she will bite at you with a poison bite, so be ready to dodge that.
There is also a window when she puts her head up and roars where one can quickly get behind her and slash at her tail, which is a weakspot. One can get some good damage in then.
If you get really low on health, consider jumping off, and head to the small room where the entrance is. The boss is too big to fit in there, so its somewhat safe. However, her tail can clip through the wall and hit you, so keep an eye out and dodge away. Also, the adds will usually try to come in after you, so watch both sides.
One other item to consider bringing is the Bile bombs. They are expensive to make in terms of materials, but very handy. I didn't think to bring them, but yesterday I went back on a toon in another play-through and tried to solo her with a mage build, and they were very helpful, particularly after she did the spew attack, as the bombs would vaporize the mobs that she just created.
Speaking of mage the mage run, I found that even harder. I died several times trying to beat her on Normal, then changed the difficulty to Easy and got her. The fight really takes forever with Magic. Once your rested buff runs out, ones eitr regeneration is noticeably slower and its really hard to stay alive and at the same time keep damaging her enough to stay ahead of her health regeneration. My Elemental skill was only like 30 and Blood Magic 20, so having it higher probably would have helped alot, with the reduced casting cost and increased damage.
For the mage run, I'd suggest 2 Eitr foods and one Stamina food. Eitr-regen armor, Feather Cape. Eikthyr Power. Lingering Stamina Regen potions. Major health potions. Poison Resistance. Eitr mead. All 4 Staves. Demolisher for mobs (saves having to use up your Eitr on them). Bile Bombs as another means to kill mobs. Mistlight.
If you have a second fire staff, I'd bring it too. I got the boss down to 10% health and my fires staff broke, so I had to switch to the second one to finish her off. I guess I could have just used the frost staff, but I found that much riskier to use.
Strategy: Stay on the top floors as much as possible. If you end up downstairs, get back upstairs as soon as you can. You want to stay at long range to the boss and basically never let her hit you. At long range, use the Fire Staff to keep applying the fire DOT to her. This can be helpful also if she is below in the mist and you can't see her, just lob a shot and if you hit it will illuminate her for a few seconds.
The frost staff seems to do way more damage to her, but the opportunities to use it are limited, as you have to be closer. Always keep a shield up. This will usually save you from one of her attacks, but will break, leaving you vulnerable to getting quickly killed by adds or another of her attacks. Jump off and try to glide to the second level down to give yourself some recovery. Immediately get a shield up again.
If you have lots of Eitr ready, the skeletons can be useful in distracting her and culling the smaller adds. However, even with a shield they don't last long and it takes a ton of eitr to summon them and then shield them. So I found they weren't something I could do often.
Anyways, hope this helps.
no suprise you had issues with the lighting weapon : it does pierce dmg. the queen resists pierce dmg. thus your dmg per hit was basically swamp tier vs mistlands enemy.
