"Sailing is boring"
What I imagine when someone says this or says there's nothing to do while sailing.

Yeah, they (complaining players) usually lack imagination and have a hard time accepting that when Vikings or explorers in general left their homelands to find new worlds, most of it was spent mapping coastlines and avoiding hazards like gale-force storms, sea serpents and kraken (ok the last two aren't real) but nonetheless, the realism of exploration is what gets them the most because they don't want realism in their games, and that just means it's not meant for them. I find it exhilarating not knowing if I'll make it back alive, or even complete said expedition.

I dont think sailing is boring, but i also dont think there is much realism to it - Or much realism to anything in this game.

there might not be realism in the game. but the mechanics of the game do make you have a viking like experience.

Exploring sure. But there arent really any settlements or anything to raid?

Exploration really isn’t the problem in itself; the sailing and navigation is excellent. What’s lacking is any real purpose to the exploration. Once you’ve found one suitable biome of each type (which is extremely easy on 99.9% of maps) there’s no reason to explore and find others. There’s no castles, no factions, no quests. No cities. No towns. No people. It’s just endless biomes filled with redundant content.

It’s a shame. Given this is early access it’s unsurprising, and I honestly think it’ll be something that gets addressed moving forward. Either they’ll make future content require materials from prior biomes, or they’ll flesh out previous biomes with new randomly generated content... or hopefully both. There’s a huge amount they can do with Valheim.

For real do you believe this nonsense yourself ?
Do you think people want a Viking simulator you spend 6 Real hours per day in a Garden for 6 months, then 4 Hours with other duties, and then when a raid is planed Weeks of real time in a boat bored to death ?

Really, before you talk down other people maybe look how deep your own point of view is

Valheim is not earth, Valheim is the place between earth and Valhalla.

In Valheim there are no villages to raid because it is not earth.

If you want to raid villages just play AC Valhalla thus said it is not as better game just because you can raid.

So no, Valhim is not realistic but the sailing is pretty accurate in front of actual sailing.

But I won't stop being a hypocrite because I felt like OP has attacked my insecurities, I know that next years update is going to expand the sea and add new biomes none of which includes Viking "Realism" oh wait title it self says "VALHEIM.

"Wonder that means I would have also mentioned it's EA but I just want to belittle people because I think too highly of myself, and I only think all the OP as troll and I have maybe came from toxic community like minecraft who backlashes on every single comment made in the community if even seems slightly criticizing and negative.

Who am I? An Incel jelous of people? or a cuck holded sentient fedora living in a basement who's too self entitled and likes putting himself on a pedestal?

I would've held myself back BUT WHY DID YOU SAY SEA IS BORING DIDN'T YOU KNOW VIKINGS SPENT ALL THE TIME MAPPING COASTLINES AND THEIR SEA ADVENTURES WHERE HOLLOW, DIDN'T YOU KNOWWWWWWWWW????????? PLBEB????????????? HAJGAJASGHKAJGS KJAGS ;GSIAUPGFIDSAUVCFVB;DISAUFGDI;UFG I'M GONNA SAY ANYTHING AND BILITTLE YOU AND PROVE MY POINT NO MATTER THE COAST!!!!!

The boat is affected by wind and water. That's realistic. You can't sail directly into the wind, you have to row. That's realistic. If the boats take too much damage they sink. That's realistic. You can use a technique known as tacking. That's realistic. You can hold on to the boat or sit so you don't fall off in extreme weather conditions. That's realistic. The boats have momentum in most situations. That's realistic.

... yeah, zero realism.

Harry Gun does have a point, he didn't say there wasn't any realism. The operative word in his case is "much". Besides I wouldn't how much realism this game lacks compared to those which are sailing simulators.

None of these examples are depicted very realistically though. It's like saying the farming is realistic because you can plant seeds in the ground, mining is realistic because you have to swing a pick, or hunting is realistic because deer run from you when you get too close.
