Raising ground toward ocean questions
I know you can't build in ocean but I seem to have hit a limit extending from shore. Is this because there's a limit on how high I can raise ground from the ocean/water floor? I'm not in the Ocean biome yet but can't seem to extend my ground further.

Also i have issues with bobbing in the water. I was working from a raft for a while but targeting is kinda a nightmare.

Any tips or videos would be awesome thanks!

I think you might have to be the one to make the videos you're referring to!

Hahaha ugh. I'm already annoyed with the whole bobbing around in storms waiting to select my hoe and click before a wave raises me up again. Most boring video EVER.

heh I spent hours mining rocks out, so my boat had more open space. I hear ya on the bobbing.

But yes I was reading there is a 16 block (?) height limit for raising the ground.

Edit* you can build stone walkways out, to help with some of the water bobbing

Meh I guess I hit the limit. Epic dock dreams dashed :)

yeah it kinda killed my lighthouse. I was setting up so I could have the bonfire on the top. bonfire wont sit on stone, and dirt would raise high enough

my harbor has a raised wall that leads out to sea but it doesn't go far enough to reach the Ocean biome. i started from the shore (which was a hill that i leveled to my desired height) then extended the edge using the level surface function of the hoe. went out about a full length of the longboat then it got to a point where raising or leveling the ground and the ground it ended up with was still partially submerged in water. at that point i used the 4x2 stone walls to extend the wall. with those ramparts, the mobs are not able to swim into my harbor.

Okay that matches my experience. I'm out maybe 10 4m poles and can't seem to extend farther. There's likely variance in shoreline floor slopes so extending out is limited by the steepness of the slope.

Craft and learn :)

Just remember the terraform limits... 16m down or 16m up.
So, if you want to build out and away from the shoreline, you'll have to look for a shallow bay or alternatively, instead of raising ground out to sea, carve away at the shoreline itself instead and work landward to create more shallow water.

Similarly, in your case, look for a small hill to build your lighthouse and then carefully excavate the hill around it while shoring up the lighthouse with stone blocks as you go to keep it supported.
So, instead of a 10-16m high beacon...

you can build a 22m high lighthouse instead ;)

The bobbing is tedius, but if you start in a slight cove where there is some shallow beach to work with, it can be done.
