Valheim

Valheim

Hammer's Always break.
I usually play with a lot of mods. my hammer likes to stop destroying things suddenly. so today i decided to start a new toon, new world, and fresh install of valheim and started playing vanilla to see if the hammer thing still happens, and it does. so what's up with that? I'm not a newb, i know i need to be beside a crafting station, i know that i need a hammer in my hand. it's broke. sorry. if they fix it i might play again, but not until, wasted too many hours troubleshooting a them problem. and yes i've tried rebinding keys, disabling game pad, it does not help

I had a mod break hammer functionality on my game. Had something to do with some farming mod I believe. Something about it made it register that I never had stamina or something even when it was full. Never did figure out how to get it to work.

it's sad. valheim it probably the best survival game i've played. i like mods but i will go without them in the name of the game not breaking, but i've read countless other threads of vanilla games doing the same thing and so did mine today. not that i would play valheim without mods for very long. the weather alone is enough to drive me away. sad

Can you repair your broken hammer at the workbench?
thistlewaite Apr 12, 2023 @ 4:01pm
You know the hammer has durability and that it can be repaired like all equipment? When it runs out of durability it stops working. I have never had the hammer stop working in vanilla other than when it runs out of durability.

lol like i said, i'm not a newb. i even made a second hammer. now what i did just notice 1 min ago, if i rebind mouse-3 it turns into mouse3 no dash. and destroying worked again. this is a them issue, messing with the controls for control pad players.

People are trying to help. They start with the obvious. As soon as I read your post, first thing that comes to my mind was "do he repair his hammer?".

And saying that you're not a newbie is irrelevant. We don't know you, and we don't know how much you're familiar with the game. Even if you're familiar, there the possibility that small things just pass you, for no specific reason. It's just like that, sometime. It happens now and then, to all of us.

And I am not even speaking about the possibility that you pretend that you rock at the game, but in fact, know very little. I am not saying it is your case, but it happens enough for people to ignore your "i am not a newb" statement.

Sounds a bit like the old mods still interfering maybe. Have you checked the recent posts on how to 'completely' remove any mod-remains? When uninstalling the game those will stay there and may break something afaik.

maybe it has something to do with the fact that nowhere in their post did they even mention repairing the hammer.

their post basically reads: im a noob and i broke my hammer, i made a new one and it also broke, how do i fix this bug?

^the way they wrote their post makes them sound like a complete noob that doesn't know you can repair the hammer.

as for what's going on, this is a known issue with people who rebind buttons on the controller.

you aren't supposed to do that.

Have to disagree. Rebinding buttons/keys is fine. I don't see why it wouldn't be. I rebind "sit" and "auto-run" all the time because I don't want to mistakenly use them.

it's literally a known issue that they talked about in the last 3 updates what?

lmao

from patch 214.300
* Settings for keybindings should now be saved correctly
yet literally right after that patch there was a bug report about keybinds being cleared after saving them.

it is a known issue that changing keybinds, and controller inputs will cause a bug like this.

to clarify, this only happens with certain keybinds, so rebinding "sit" and "autorun" may work for you, but things like the destroy keybind and others completely go missing.

So it's something they've benen trying to fix. Saying "you're not supposed to do that" is inaccurate.

i was joking around my guy.

try to keep it light and not take anything so serious, my point was that it's a known issue, and changing keybinds will cause the bug.

so "don't do that" is a joke

Might be a good idea not to; it will probably confuse people having the problem. Heck, I didn't even have a problem and you seemed serious to me. I only piped up in case people DID think that was a solution, hah.

Yeah, it's often difficult to judge whether something is a joke, or sarcasm, or pretty much anything other than a straightforward reply when you can't see someone's tone of voice or goofy grin because... it's text.
