Why does my base get attacked by greydwarves in the meadows?
I started a new game after mistlands came out, brought in a bunch of resources from other worlds and built a grand stone tower right next to the spawn point. There are no black forests anywhere around, and yet I'm constantly having to go outside to beat up greydwarves, including brutes and shamans, who are vandalizing my property. The purpose of building in the meadows rather than somewhere with useful resources around like surtling pyres or plains was to be able to just sit around in my base peacefully without having to worry about anything tougher than a boar or greyling.

Greydwarfs attack at night. Been like that for as long as I can remember.

In the meadows? When you first started playing and had nothing but a stone axe, a hammer, a raspberry in your belly, a workshop with one wall and one roof, you were getting attacked by greydwarf brutes at night?

Yep. That's why you either get a basic camp set up and sleep the night away before anything can bother you, or you brave the night and get yourself plenty of resin.

I just looked it up on the wiki. Apparently they begin spawning in the meadows at night after you've defeated Eikthyr. I guess if I want peace, the next time I start a new game, I'll just not defeat Eikthyr. I wonder if they'll still spawn if I defeat the other bosses but not Eikthyr

Not sure, but it can even get worse from there. I've got fulings attacking me in the meadows on my current save. So don't think you're safe anywhere. This world wants you dead.

You could basically defeat yagluth before any other boss, however that will spawn in fulings at night in the meadows. Just make sure you have a bit of a base setup before you start killing bosses.

Nothing harder than greydwarves will spawn in the meadows on a regular basis. Only during raids.

Or you know, be like me, create wide area trench around your base that will fit anything you need.. In my new mistlands world, I have a large house, outdoors multiple furnaces, kilns etc, large farm and still so much room left. Just trench, pallisade walls and workbenches that cover the whole area with their radius.

Greydwarf Event stops once you killed The Elder, but than new mobs raid your base.
Maybe this wiki will help:

Become an inter-dimensional Viking who rules multiple worlds.

I have a transfer material base setup on a world with no bosses killed and it's pretty chill. Poor boars and necks just can't help but run into the dverger spikes. it's pretty amusing just standing on the marble deck watching it.
