My Hoe aint working! (Solved)
I have a problem with my personal seed pertaining to the operation of the Hoe. Usually when you use the hoe you have the concentric circles radiating out from the center but you also have the vertical line indicating lower level terrain? Well in my game it has no vertical line so I'm unable to make flat terrain because if I put the indicators over ground that's lower then where I'm standing it flattens to that level. Do you know what might be causing the problem? Is it something in the config?

gotta keep your pimp hand strong...

but serisouly, by default the hoe will try to make the ground level to the point where the player is standing, BUT if you hold shift while using it, it will level the ground to the point that you are targetting

Then I have a problem, because it is leveling to the target point and I'm not using the shift key.

Sorry, that does not explain why in my game the hoe is constantly acting like I'm holding the "Shift" key down when in actuality I'm not!

Argh you beat me to it. With that title you have to give an obligatory pimps n hoes joke before you answer. It's the law. :-p

Are you playing single player or on a server? (I've had hoes act up when on servers before)

Have you tried restarting the game? If you're playing on a server, have the admin save the world and reboot it.

Maybe this part is worth trying;
"Note that the hoe will try and level the ground as best as it can. However, leveling the ground will not raise or lower the overall ground height. The tool can only smooth the surface out to a similar level.

If the ground you are trying to level is too raised or too low, the hoe will leave large lumps or divots. To substantially lower a bit of land that the hoe cannot flatten, you will need to hit the bumpy area with a pickaxe.

Or if a bit of ground is too low, you will need to raise it with the hoe’s second function, elevating ground."

Yea this could also be an issue. Certain ground just won't lower/raise via how beyond a certain degree, gotta use pickaxe to lower it or raise ground with hoe to raise it. Though I assume that's not his problem.

There's mods you can get btw that allow you to raise or lower terrain beyond the limit btw.

Single player, no server. This is a new game, new world.

I'm aware of the process for raising/lowering ground with the hoe and pickaxe. But something is wrong with my game. If you use the hoe to level you will see the vertical line at the center of the circles and as you move the circles over uneven terrain that vertical line get longer/shorter depending on the difference in the terrain. However I have no vertical line when I go to level terrain.

So that means it is level and does not need levelling? What more do you want it to do. xD

Let me try to explain this again. I'm standing on a piece of ground. It is slightly higher than the surrounding terrain. Now normally as I move the hoe outward from my position I will see the vertical line at the center of the circles get longer. This indicates that the terrain is lower than where I'm standing and if I left-click my mouse it will bring that ground to my level, but only to a certain extent. If the difference is a lot it basically does nothing.

Now, what is happening in my game is that if the ground I'm on is higher and as I move the hoe outward to lower terrain there is no vertical line and if I left-click it lowers the terrain covered by the circles to the lower level, not to the level I'm standing at.

Still a good idea to restart the client just to make sure.

If it's acting as if you're pressing shift while leveling, what happens when you do hold shift while leveling? The same thing? Try just toggling on and off and try different locations.

Never mind. The hoe works the way it is suppose to in the server game/seed I am part of, but not in my personal game/seed, so I will find the solution on my own.
