Copper deposit, but no copper?
After a lot of searching online and througout my world, i found some copper ''bolders'' however mining them does not give any copper? Only stone.
Am i doing something wrong?

Does it say "copper deposit" when you look at it? Does it have shiny veins in the rock? The regular stone ones look very similar. Also, not every broken chunk will give you copper, it's RNG, but you should have some after destroying two or three chunks.

Copper is native to the Black Forest. This is currently the only place you can find copper unless maybe its a random in a chest or something but unsure if thats on the loot table for that.
Be warned. Trolls and other denizens can hear you mining from a VERY far distance.

Copper deposits and very large stone boulders can look almost identical. As Zep said, make sure that it says Copper when you mouse over it.

also general tip, there are more than meets the eye.

It needs an inventory slot and weight capacity open to collect it.
It may not show up as you pick it up as text but check your inventory by hitting tab to see if you have any.

If you think your game may be bugged do a verify of local files.
Do you run any mods or did you in the past?

Also not sure if troll mining works after the recent update.

The first 1/3 of the rock did not give any copper, but after mining for about an hour i got 35 copper.
It does take a lot more effort and time compared to tin, that was easy to find and took me 5 min for half the amount.

Also damn those greydwarfs, i must have killed 200 of them, had to repair my bow 3 times xD

Thanks for the response everyone :)

Just a small general tip for copper mining (or actually anything), find a large biome to mine in, not a small one. In a big biome you kill the initial enemies and that's it for a while. In a small one the enemies you defeat (re)spawn often very close to you and you have to fight more of them in the end (especially noticeable in swamps).

I have a feeling they'll tweak copper (and probably iron) gathering eventually. Why? When you mine tin you get tin every time and nothing else. Chop trees? You get wood. Mine stone? You get stone. Mining silver gives you loads of silver. But copper? Some copper, lots of stone. It's tedious especially when some chunks of it only give stone and no copper at all. Iron can be similar, you can smash junk piles for an hour and get almost nothing useful.

I sure hope so, i went through an entire biome, granted it was half the size as the starting meadows. And only found 2 rocks containing Copper, one took more than an hour to clear and gave 35. While the entire biome was littered with hundreds of tin.

Considering tin is mainly used for making bronze, and only a cauldron aside from that its a bit unballanced.
Copper on the other hand seems to be needed in loads of crafting recipes (according to the wiki)
Its still early access though, the game needs (and probably will get) lots of work.

You need to scout around.
From my experience before the update if you explore a bit you can find places with lots of copper. I've had fairly small areas with 6 copper nodes and two of those were double ones making 8. Way more than I needed at the time. You can't be too picky early on though and take what you can..but don't think that everywhere is going to be like that.
