Training Bow Skill Question
Can you still increase the bow skill by shooting at stationary objects? I don't think it still goes up for that now.

Has anyone checked it?

Thanks.

Thank you for the very useful and helpful comment. It's so fun to manufacture gotcha moments on the Steam forums! They surely are in short supply and the world needs more of them! Thank you for your valuable contribution.

No, it doesn't seem to for me either. Thank you for checking and helping me confirm.

hmm , best usefull and secure way to train now is doing a graydwarf farm into a pit , there is some youtube tutorials to make float the graydwarf nest and just shot from a safe place out of the pit , can be used to train other weapons too but u have to jump into the pit and smack some brownies

You'd think that change in this update would have been accompanied by an archery target build piece.

You could never train bow skill by shooting at stationary objects such as stones or terrain. Perhaps you could by shooting objects that could damage like trees and building, but the skill up was extremely slow, and it wasted arrows. Even wooden arrows require mats and time to make. Bows are one of the skills that you really must use against living targets to level them up.

That's not true. You could shoot a rock and gain levels, same as every weapon. You did not even need a full draw, allowing bows to level faster than most weapons. It was very tedious past level 20, since objects give less experience than living creatures.

Spawners have always been better sources of skill gains than objects. Some people like dwarf spawners. Swamps generally have clusters of drauger/skeleton spawners, so they are a little more efficient.

It isn't just bows - I tested hacking away at a tree stump with a sword and a knife, attacking until they ran out of endurance, and neither skill gained any experience whatsoever. Not only that, but I can now only get about 1/3 as many swings with my melee weapons before running out of character stamina.

Incorrect, the skill gain from either shooting a boulder or an enemy was exactly the same from February 2 until September 16, yesterday.

then why even bother changing it in the first place? its basically replacing it with a crafted Rock/Tree lol. they removed this "exploit" so that players actually go out and play the game to build the character skills instead of hiding safely in their bases shooting Rocks for hours.
