How to gather Tar?

Kill Growth creatures in Plains or just press Use button on a floating black things near balck lakes in Plains

i tried to pick it up but it is stuck in tar

yep in plains biome you can find little pools of tar

oooh i diddn't know this. what's tar for? is it involved in any crafting recipes?

you can craft the new wood stuff with it (dark wood) and a little more thats all i found out yet. but i cant figure out how to get the stuff out of the fluid

I did figure it out i guess. you have to dig an empty hole next to the tar pool, and then you have to dig out the wall between both holes so that the tar can sort of drain... and be sure to drain the whole thing since at the bottom you can find more tar to collect.

But There might be a "better" method^^

From the Internet: Now, each of these Growths drop a little bit of tar when defeated. However, they’re not what you’re after. Rather, you need to go to the tar pit and collect the little globs of tar around the edge. That’s still not all. Dig a trench near the pit and drain the tar out. This will reveal still more tar globs at the bottom.

yep doesn't work
trying to burn the tar by shooting it with fire arrows etc. also does nothing.

Drain the tar pis, its easy.

hmm i dig a hole next to the pit and then dig a tunnel connecting both, but nothing happens. The pit still is full of tar.
