Nighttime is way too dark.
I'm not bugged by how long the night seems to take in this game, just more by how miserable it is to do much of anything during nighttime. Unless you're surrounded by torches, building anything intricate is nearly impossible. The ground is black, the wood is black, and there's no grid to snap to on the ground, so creating things like supports under a structure essentially has to wait until dawn.

There should either be a brightness slider in the graphics settings or the shaders for nighttime need to be scaled back. I've already got my monitor at full brightness and have to close the blinds in my room to even have a chance.

Its fine. If you want to ruin your experience by turning up your gamma thats on you. Or you could just sleep the night away. Being lost alone in the dark may be annoying to you but for alot of gamers its immersion.

If you find Haldor, you can buy the Dverger circlet from him for about 600 gold which is essentially a headlamp (though you can't wear a helmet with it on). Great for dungeons/crypts or just moving around at night.

nights are perfect. Will people leave this game the ♥♥♥♥ alone with their stupid arse observations. Get a better screen.

I kind of have a strange question here. I have an eye condition that makes my night vision great at the cost of migraines from light. Is the default night darkness how most people see night in the woods? I can pretty easily navigate woods at night with no light unless it is overcast or no moon. I used the NVIDIA control panel to change the brightness/gamma settings to make night look more what I see but last I checked AMD cards can't do that. It's still dark, but navigable.

Also I love the delver light for night exploration. Get it. :)

I'm somewhat similar, photophobia in my case. I haven't really changed much (besides turning gamma and brightness on my monitor down for my eyes), but I can still see well enough to know what's what and where to go. Only issue I've had is I tend to run into a boar or two as they seem to blend in very well in the dark.

I personally love night time, bring a torch and things to keep up your stamina and maybe some potions. Love going to get resources at night.

Imo, valheim devs took in consideration many all time player complaints, and an usual one ive seen across so many games is "night is not dark enough".

The inmersion with and without torches is great, also theres a headlamp item in trader

Just wish the game had a Gamma setting. Annoying having to go through my TV's menu to turn up my brightness. Makes the game look like ♥♥♥♥ when it's not dark out, But worth it so I can see. The torch barely gives any light.

The night time is the right time.

Me too, I mistake them for rocks :)

lol they are even too bright, wouldn't mind it being darker for additional challenge.

Huh, would be ideal to able to craft a torch or sleep to see or avoid the night, which also seemingly sends mobs to attack you/spawn harder ones during the night.

Weird.

you need to play Rust or another game the night in this game is normal and pretty good you can even buy that helmet that produces light

I wouldn't change it at all. what I would do is make lighting better and I'm sure in time they will. The torch for example is like a glow stick and not a torch its range and the way it interacts with objects is very EA but that's ok because it is in fact in EA. xD

I'd say that nights aren't dark enough (for me)

Haven't used a torch past day 5, day 160 now. It's so bright at night I go out mining in forest and getting sausages in swamp.
