Haldor spawn
I think that haldor should always spawn on your first island. Maybe within so many meters of the elder spot. The best items shouldn't be locked behind rng. You already have to earn the gold for the items. Just my 2 cents

Check for a map seed with a known route, visit him, return to your world? ;)

Found him after 70 hours of gameplay on my map. I didn't particularly go hunting him, just found him as I was playing.

Who is Haldor? The Trader? If so, I found him on a peninsula in the Black Forest on my starting island about 2 minutes walk (note: not run) from my first base. Get wrecked lol.

Technically it was on my starter island just 1 hour away in a swamp (or close by) behind a plain biome.

I'm over 140 hours in and I still can't find the bastard.

I think locations of various entities should be randomized. I searched a long time for a sufficiently large swamp with Sunken Crypts. In the process I fought and killed my first sea serpent (got its meat, scales, and trophy), and found the trader and leviathan. It's a survival game, I don't think anything should be simply handed over to the player, we should fight/work for it.

I agree with Butt Stallion.

Two out of two maps we've played, he was found within a couple hours of just exploring for berries and dungeons. Just fill out your forest biomes i guess

I just want to say it again, I agree with Butt Stallion.

Searching for Haldor was literally the only reason I went around exploring. Right now I have no reason to explore.

Well, define best items. When I found him he only had some minor QoL items...

Fishing rod: until fish gets more recipes, it's far from being that good.
Light hat: way less armor than the copper helm and a simple torch create more light.
Strength belt: manage your inventory?

I like the exploration aspect of this game so far, having him to spawn to easily kinda break the point of exploring (is already not that hard to find is you do explore)

No keep him random. I found him very easily on my first run and I honestly felt like my excitement of finding him was robbed.

I think the only thing that would make me agree to such a proposition, would be to add more non-essential landmarks of comparably high value first. Until then, no thanks.

As far as I can tell there seems to be a heightened chance that his spawns can generate within 50-100 feet of an Elder spawn. It is definitely not a guarantee for every seed, but there's too much black forest for it to keep happening by chance so often. Or so I think.
