Hey sorry for the late response but lets see if we can't sort things out. Basically this crash is seeming to stem from what I am gathering from how the game saves. I found through trial and error that if you do the manual save you can almost see when it will crash out for you. Basically if you hit the F5 key in game....then type imacheater....press enter...then type save...you may find it crash or freeze like mine did.
Remember the save thing in case my fixes don't work but you want to expand on things to test if other options and tweaks may help you resolve the freeze crash bug.
Process Hacker works this way. First you need of course to install it, then run it. Somewhere in its settings you may need to open the options where if you close it it will minimize to the system try and also when you minimize the program it goes there. You need Process Hacker running when you attempt running the game at high priority. You can close it when your not using it but it doesn't take up much system resources so I just leave mine running in system try.
Once you have Process Hacker running, load Valheim. Once its loaded, you right click on Process Hacker when you window out of the game while its still running. They choose valheim.exe and set it to High Priority and also tick the option to save that setting. Now everytime you run the game it will always run in High Priority on the cpu as long as PH is open.
Studio Drivers are an option in GeForce Experience for Nvidia users. Basically where you usually download the latest Game Ready Driver, there is a three dot option to the right of that DOWNLOAD/EXPRESS INSTALL button. Click on that and it will show Game Ready or Studio Drivers. Just tick on the Studio Driver option, then it will need to be downloaded and installed just like Game Ready ones. Your basically just switching to that type. You may need to check Nvidia Control Panel after install to make sure settings are still the same, mine were but just in case double check everything.
I can't say this will 100% work for you, for me I am now 6 days without a crash so my system just needed overhead I guess. Some its not working and they haven't really solved it, this bug is a little weird...a group of us can't figure out what exactly is causing it but probably the dev is gonna need to patch it out to fully fix it.
Also the thing about Studio Drivers, they are pretty much the same as regular Game Ready ones...only difference they are sometimes older because they are the more tested drivers for gpus so businesses using gpus for graphic arts, game design, so on have more stable tested drivers. I found so far they run pretty much fine for all my games so I am just sticking with it....also has a few benefits for 4K movies truly playing back at 10 bit which isn't a thing with the game ready drivers.
Honestly its gonna be trial and error to fully work around this on your own system. Some are undervolting gpus, changing ram and all kinds of weird things that shouldn't correct it but for some it has. AMD users are seeming to have no luck with much of anything around this, not sure why but I suspect its just due to how the bug is working on those chips and gpus.
I am on here a lot and also in the Discord as sflaherty if you need more help. I know this is a pain but I am sure they will fix this as soon as they can, I been updating the dev myself with what I found so hopefully he is looking at things for all of us
First of all, I have one characteristic. Pressing F5 to save manually does not cause CRASH or FREEZING.
Strangely, when I go out to the sea by boat, FREEZING occurs.
Before using Process Hackers, I had prioritized as a Task Manager, but it didn't work.
I am Intel CPU and enough to run the game.
Specifically, I want to know your discord.
Your fine to add me....heck anyone that may need help troubleshooting is free to hit me up on Discord. My username over there is sflaherty (bringer0death)#1177
Not sure if you put all my settings in, but I have everything listed on my Reddit post on at the same time. Not sure if its just a combination of things helping or I just lucked out but make sure you follow every tweak I did on here @ https://www.reddit.com/r/valheim/comments/lmz7qu/follow_up_on_a_potential_fix_for_valheim_crashing/
Thing though, some systems this is still not stopping the freezes and crashing. Worst part of the situation is I got all our systems to stop crashing so its gonna be hard to test anything further here myself. If your not freezing during manual saves, you still probably have the same issue...its just having different symptoms it appears for different setups. I am currently on a 2080ti with my older i7 due to my i9 9900k dying on me a few months back. But we have also an i7 with a 1060 card and also another i9 with 2080ti and they seems to all be working fine now with the tweaks. Though the 1060 machine actually never had any issues with this, thats my fiance's pc....some reason hers been immune completely to this so far.
I am in and out of Discord but I will try to keep popping in if you or anyone else has issues. Honestly though, in the end this is gonna require a patch from the dev himself I suspect. While I am fine now I worry it could come back or new updates get me back to crashing. At the end of the day, something in the game is happening so sadly we are all at a stage we may just need to also wait if crashes aren't resolving, many out there are still crashing even with whats working for me

I can't add friends.
Hey 1st-Avengers, sorry for the late response again. No my Discord also has sflaherty at the beginning, I use Discord for both gaming and some work related stuff. To find me just copy the following as is with the spaces:

I maybe a little busy today but if you hit me up there I will try to find a moment to reach back to you. Today they patched things though, if you put -force-vulkan in the games Steam Launch options when you right click on the game title in your library and look below the General settings for Launch Options, that may fix your issues with crashing. Dev told me he may put that in a week back so I guess he did. I haven't done it yet, due to being so busy today I haven't found a moment to test it but I plan to in a little bit.
-window-mode exclusive -screen-fullscreen -force-vulkan
Should I write it down like this?
Just try -force-vulcan and see if that works as this issue seems to be dx related. Though you should now get the option to pick vulcan when you start the game via steam?
Also what does event viewer say happened?
Are there any crash logs created in \IronGate\Valheim\crashes?
What errors are given at the end of the player.log file?
