I found the best fix ever, I refunded this pos crashing pos. Early access should not mean crashes EVERY time you play it.....

Maybe my Ryzen 9 with a Radeon RX5700 with 8gb of ddr 5 with 64 gb of ddr4 system ram and 2 nvme ssd's in Raid 0 are not adequate, your right, its my system that plays every other game I throw at it at max settings, my bad.

Well maybe instead of bragging with useless hardware specs clean your computer and remove bloatware.

Most problems come from such stuff.

Guys, it's easy to blame people for crashing... but the truth is I have seen where many people have complained of crashing so they all can't be lying and it can't be just their PC's. I myself have crashed once and I know for a fact it's not my PC... I am using a MSI Gaming Laptop with good specs. The truth is this game DOES crash, just because it ain't happened to some of you "yet" don't mean it can't. The key is to SAVE often, it's sad it has to be this way... but it is, what it is.

Hopefully the game gets optimized better, and hopefully they add more things to do, I am lenient because it's in Early Access.

I had the same issue. Here's what I did.

First I removed my GPU overclock, left it stock.
Went into my BIOS and updated it to the most recent one version 1805. (ASUS ROG B550-F)
Reset all settings back to default in BIOS, except leaving DOCP on to have my ram running at 3200mhz.

Now I went into the game and changed a couple of settings;

Game still looks fine and so far, no crash after 24 hours!
I don't know if it's because of my default GPU/mobo bios update or just the ingame settings.

All I know is that it's playable again. I was struck with the crash before and it would happen 2-20 times a day.. I couldn't progress my character at all.

There's a lot of person having that crash actually on their website https://valheimbugs.featureupvote.com either related to UnityPlayer.dll or d3d11.dll (look at the Fix the crashing post)

PS: I'm starting to think that it's either related to the Shadow Quality and/or Tessellation/Chromatic Aberration. It's Unity Engine afterall, woudn't be a surprise.

Ofc the game can crash or is buggy, but I had so many support tickets where the owner of the pc trashed their pc ad absurdum.

I wont give the user free pass for issues anymore.

I just solo with a dedicated server, crash fixed. Mine was crash on saves, which is why they were so devastating to game progreession... dedicated server doesn't crash at all, nor does the client now.

Pasted from another thread:

I'm also crashing every 5-10 mins. Playing on a dedicated server which 4 other friends can play on perfectly fine. It either freezes, bluescreens or crashes to desktop. Tried everything. Clean installed windows, Valheim, updated all drivers, tried every FPS fix I could find, ran as administrator, disabled fullscreen optimalizations, removed steam in-game, turned off HW accel on chrome and discord, exclusive fullscreen, tried all graphics settings, monitor settings, CPU/GPU/RAM stresstests, installed Valheim on 3 different drives, created several characters.

I have no issues in other games. Also former computers technician so I should know what I'm doing. Clearly a fault with the game.
i have 5 friends playing the game or weaker toasters and have not experiences one crash, we play on a Texas server, ones from Argentina and other in Indonesia and has never had an issue. its just me. but id love to see a crash log anywhere to figure out what the cause is.
