Boar taming excessively long?
Has anybody had any issues with boars taking a long time to tame? It's been around 3 days now and the boar is barely at 6%. It has food and I am away from the base so it can't be frightened.

You have to be a bit nearby during the taming process. Boar needs food it likes (red mushroom, raspberries), and make sure there's no fire near the pen.

If your pen is near a fire source, they'll be "permanently" frightened. I learned this the hard way after wondering for literally in-game weeks why they weren't progressing.

yeah I agree, got them finally tamed and I am well past my need for leather. The meat source is nice, but would have been better to have them tamed when I needed leather early on. Plus, you really only have carrots going once you past the need for leather. Should be able to feed them raspberries, and they also tame faster.

If you go too far away that chunk of the map does not stay loaded and it will pause progress. Also, what are you feeding it? If you stay close to it, it will stay frightened and not eat. Find a happy medium and it will tame in about an hour or less.

Aah I guess the issue is the fact that my house/fire is right next to the pen. I am feeding them raspberries, blueberries, mushrooms etc. I'll have to move the pen further out then.

I just captured a boar, it was tamed within 40 minutes? Made it a pen with grass in it, put some mushrooms down and then went away and did busy work around the base until nightfall, slept in the bed. Slept twice and now the boar is tamed to 100%.

i read that carrots and mushrooms are best for taming/feeding/breading

Doesn't take long at all. I had a full pen of 15 1 star boars with in 4 in game days.

AND now comes the tricky part: getting the boar to move anywhere is like herding cats. I had to change islands because I found a 2 star boar.

Fire has a status affect that has a radius. When you are in the fire status affect radius an icon appears in the upper right corner of your screen and it increases your hit point regeneration rate. Even if the fire isn't visible any non-tamed boar that is in the status affect range will be frightened.

Place your camp fire first and go outside the status affect range before constructing your pen/barn. Then build a wall or obstruction between the fire and the pen/barn to hide the light. (The light has a longer affect range than the fire status affect so you need to take both into consideration).

That's how we women are. If you stray too far from us, we'll just eat out of boredom. If you're hanging around too much you won't get any action :D
