Carrots
Why don’t my carrots produce seeds? I can harvest them, gain 1 carrot, but no seeds. I can then replant the seed to only get another single carrot, no seeds.

On super rare occasions there is a flowered carrot which produces seeds. After planting about 50 seeds, I’ve gained 3 carrots with seeds.

Am i missing something?

There's a second plant in the menu that essentially replants the carrots until they grow into the flowering carrots, which produce seeds.

Seems the littlest/easiest things are overlooked. Thanks for pointing that out.

Turnips are the same way, just FYI.

Where do you find Turnips?

Micro Management for a food that is pointless. Turnips and carrots are a waste, better food that is easier to make.

Swamp biome, they are hard to spot cause of the constant gloomy setting and clutter of trees though.

Turnip stew is some of the best food you can make that is easy to obtain without a ton of grinding for materials, and carrot soup is amazing for stamina and also very easy to get materials to make. Sausages are a good alternative but getting enough thistle constantly can be a chore because of how uncommon it is.

I've been using nothing but honey + carrot soup + turnip soup for a while now and have not had any reason to change it, maybe once I properly explore the plains, but the ease of getting mushrooms and meat in large quantities is trivial compared to everything else.

100% this. Food only gets better once you beat the 4th boss and can build a farm in the planes.

Thanks!

Honey [20][20][300]
Raspberries [10][20][600]
Mushroom [15][20][600]
Blueberries[15][20][600]

1x Turnip Stew [50][50][1600]
1 Raw Meat 1 Turnip

4x Queens Jam [30][40][1200]
8 Raspberries
8 Blueberries

4x Sausages [60][40][1600]
2 Entrails
1 Raw Meat
4 Thistle

1x Carrot Soup [20][60][1500]
1 Mushroom
3 Carrots

1x Cooked Meat [40[30][1200]
1 Raw Meat

1x Cooked Fish [45][25][1200]
1 Raw Fish

1x Bread [40][70][1800]
10 Barley Flour

1x Fish Wrap [60][90][2400]
2 Cooked Fish
4 Barley Flour

1x Serpent stew [80][80][2400]
1 Mushroom
1 Cooked serpant meat
2 Honey

1x Lox meat Pie [80][80][2400]
2 Cloudberries
2 Cooked Lox Meat
4 Barley Flour

1x Blood Pudding [90][50][2400]
2 Thistle
2 Bloodbag
4 Barley Flour

Based on ingredient list and craft multiplier the best food pre plains to get with little effort: You can do turnip stew if you want to micro manage planting. Carrot soup is not worth it.
Cooked Meat
Cooked Fish
Queens Jam
Turnip Stew

The best end game food to effort ratio:
Fish Wrap
Lox meat Pie
Blood Pudding

These are all easy to get ingredients. Bread can be used if you again... want to micro manage planting crops and putting them in the windmill but its micromanaging vs exploring/killing.

Queens jam takes a ton of exploring around meadows + black forest to get enough berries to make enough to last more than a couple of hours, so it's not realistic in at all for being easy to get large quantities of.

Fishing can be so RNG and time consuming, I don't know how you consider this to be an easy method of a food source. I've had times where I've only gotten 3 fish within 20 minutes of fishing, while someone fishing right next to me would catch 15+, It's way too unreliable.

Turnip Stew is so easy to make, you literally just plant about 200+ turnips and forget about it until you run out again, then you spend a whole whopping 5 minutes to plant a new batch and forget about it again.

You could forgo carrot soup with just cooked meat, as getting meat is by far the easiest thing to do, and with 10 minutes of farming meat drops I can easily fill a regular chest to last a long time, but while I am running around the meadows hunting meat, I can easily get half a chests worth of mushrooms at the same time, and with making large batches of carrots, it's easy to get enough to make carrot soup for the stamina.

Honey is by far the easiest food to get overall, and the massive 5/hp regen it gives allows you to not worry about having larger health pools and instead freeing up a food slot to focus stamina fighting, hence why I prefer carrot soup.
