Why spiders?

I mean why do you always use spiders in video game? I hate them, I am terrified of them.
Realy you have plenty of others solutions, insects, animals or monsters so why still using those ♥♥♥♥♥ ugly demonic thing?

Very well said. But you know, people is ignorant with anything that doesnt affect them.

So they clearly shown they have no idea about phoboas.
In addition, they lack any empathy, and also show a big selfishness, as we areasking for a toggle, which means it doesnt affect them, and makes their complains and opposition to our suggestions, as sad as being against of adding a colorblind mode, a fov slider / option to disable motion blur, for people with motion sickness etc.

For me, I can play a game with spiders, and while I dont enjoy seeing or fighting them, I still can do it. Its just a videogame blabla.

Buuut they remind me of the real spiders, so while I can stand the "inoffensive pixels", it triggers my arachnophobia, and I start checking under my desk, touching my hair often as I feel some spider web may be there, etc.

Not very enjoyable xD and as some wise, smart people said, if the ingame spider doesnt realistically crawl on multiple legs, or is designed in a non realistic way, the phobia is not triggered so much.

In grounded there were like 5 levels in the spider toggle.
a First was full spider, second was same spider with less legs, and the last was just a ball, lol.

For me, the second level, which was the less spidery one (with less legs) was enough for me to be able to play. I was still terrorized to see em, but they didnt trigger my arachnophobia so hard as the full, 12 or so legged one.

So why do the arachnophobes get special treatment and not the acrophobes? Or hemaphobes? Or astraphobes?
I mean, acrophobia is just as common. And is something that’s in the game right now, the mountain biome is not optional.

There’s a difference between being unempathetic and not wanting to require every game to work around someone’s personal issues. Hell, how about waiting until there’s actually a problem to confront before talking about fixing it?
There are no spiders in this game. Blood, thunder, heights, open water(all super common phobias) yes, but no spiders.
If, in the future, there are spiders added you can just wait a day for the spider removal mod.
You know, deal with your problem on your end rather than have it forced on everyone.

As to why spiders: Spiders have been on humanity’s ♥♥♥♥ list for several thousand years. It’s frankly far more rare for there to NOT be spiders

I agree to there being an option to toggle off arachnids and insectoids in general. Those freak me out so bad I stopped playing several other games because of them. I don't have a phobia against them per say, but I do live with other phobias and can totally relate with those that are.

People should deal with their phobias instead of putting them on developpers to do extra work for them..... or wait for a mod that replaces spiders like in Skyrim, it is bound to happen.

Yeah if a digital spider freaks you out so hard you have to stop playing several games: You have a phobia.

That is very much not the normal reaction to a spider, real or otherwise. Especially otherwise. That’s an extreme and illogical reaction, specifically a fear:avoidance reactions. In other words: A textbook phobia.

If the biome has drops that you require to progress, you can console them in and avoid the area altogether. That way you can solve the problem rather then the devs.

I have arachnophobia and I know its silly, but I really cant play games with spiders in them like I freeze in fear when I see them. and yes generally video game spiders are scarier then IRL spiders because in games their several times larger then you in games and on screen.

Pretty much. If the devs exclude content due to anxiety disorders, we won't have any content in the game.

I was bitten by a fake widow spider about 5 yrs ago and got nerve damage. Any spiders in a game are therapy as I squish their stupid heads in :)
