seriously, they need to add a way to either find him or summon him. i have revealed a good 20% of my total world map and still haven't found him. this is ridiculous. i am loving this game so far, but this one thing seems so arbitrarily obtuse. this is a needle in a haystack situation and at this point the effort just isn't worth it.

Or here's a thought. Maybe the OP doesn't want to be a Cheesie™ and abuse the multiple worlds to bypass mechanics.

Either way, just keep searching OP. Welcome to procedurally generated worlds. Sometimes things spawn in your favor, sometimes they don't.

I completely agree with you. Once you go the route of server-hopping or using cheats the fun gets sucked right out of it, I find.

I'm 50 hours in and haven't seen a Trader either, and I've been in a lot of Black Forest areas. I'm happy to keep looking, because exploration is part of the fun. I defeated the second Boss, and went to a Swamp today to get Iron in the dungeons, except there wasn't a single one in the zone. Just RNG, but that's how it goes. :)

The map is not infinite at least, though it is big, so every place you dont find the trader starts to narrow it down. Im at the point where I started looking for him on purpose but no luck so far, about to make the 2nd boat and sail more betterer.

Day 21 and I think I accidentally found the merchant while trying to fully explore the first island (if he appears on the map as a bag icon). He is MILES from my base, ofc, but I didn't expect to find him so soon.

We finally found ours, at the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ edge of the map, past mistlands, he can spawn ANYWHERE in the whole map, not just near the spawn.

They give you the option in case you got a bad seed. So the obvious answer to your question is to QQ about your bad seed on the forums and reject any advice given.

they should make it so you either "summon" the trader if you meet certain requirements, kinda lika in terraria. wouldnt it be cool if he could live in a house in your village?

or give him a portal, as soon as you build a portal with the label "Merchant" you can go directly to him.

Hes usually near the edge of the map, always in the black forest, and his icon will appear from far far away. Honestly they made it super easy to find already. I could probably hop in you game and find him in 20 minutes. Just sail woth the wind towards the edge of your world and check the Black Forests. Hell pop up
