Player-based raids
Does anyone know how this works? In my current playthrough I'm playing single-player, but I argued for this feature for quite some time before they added it, so I decided to turn it on. I'm now well into swamp and haven't had a single raid, which doesn't seem right.

My assumption was that it should be the same for a SP game as normal mode, but that assumption appears to be wrong for some reason. Any idea why?

Well considering you play SP in offline mode I would think it would be obvious. Also you can cheat all to hell n back on a SP game, so there wouldn't really be a point to raiding someone else's base.

I would think it would be obvious as well, which is why I'm confused why I'm not getting any raids.

It says in wiki that you need the elder forsaken power to get swamp raids. Since that is a power I personally have never used I am thinking that maybe you have to select the power then use it once so the game registers you have it? I do not think it should work that way but it might be the way it works intended or not. So I would try selecting and activating the elder forsaken power and see if that helps.

Thanks for making me look into it though. I didnt think PLayer Based raids had such different mechanics than the normal ones but they are very different!

PS Just to be safe be sure you have your swamp key in inventory when you activate the elder forsaken power since having the swamp key is another requirement.

EDIT

You should be getting troll raids though.... so yeah confusing. It still requires the key though so would be funny if the key has to be in your inventory for the raid check.

Do you carry your swamp key around with you all the time?

I would also try setting raids to max frequency, at least while troubleshooting or trying things. Much more of a chance to see changes. On max frequency (Raids = Much More) setting you should be getting a raid at least once every real time hour......

That would be a 67% chance every 14 minutes on "much more"

I'm playing no-map, no-portal, and spawn is buried deep in a very large starter island that I don't know how to get back to at this point, so I'm not inclined to try to activate the power. :-)

That is a good idea about turning up the frequency to at least test it. I'm currently camped in swamp, and troll raids there can be fun and rewarding!

I cranked up raid frequency to max, and, according to the time of my post above, it looks like it took about 45 minutes to get a raid. Unfortunately it was a swap raid, not a troll raid!

I spent some of that time in a crypt, so there were likely 2 raid checks there, which seems reasonable.

It looks like there are some significant differences in the raid triggers that I didn't know about, but I guess I just got very lucky to not have any raids. Now I'll turn that frequency back down. Having it maxed put me on edge the whole time! :-)

Have you killed a troll in your current playthrough?
Maybe open console and type..?: listkeys

I have killed plenty of trolls.

I don't care about what raids they are, I'm just confused why there's so much less frequent than in normal raid mode.

I have gotten another swamp raid with the raid frequency setting turned back down to normal, but I'm over 100 days into this world and I've only seen two raids, one with raid frequency turned up to max.

It's not that I love raids, but it seems like there's something wrong with player-based raids if it drastically reduces the raid rate.
