Im concluding that based on the mistlands update. Bits uncovered pre-patch have remained fogless and pretty barren but the parts uncovered post-patch generated normally.
The answer is yes, if the south part of the map hasnt been fully generated (uncovered) prior to the patch.
Now that i think of it, I generated the new ashlands fine on a world that's like 4 years old. Give or take. Predating the mistlands by a long shot. From a time when Valheim 1st became a media sensation. The thing is ive never touched that part of the world.
As for displaying old maps, if you load your map files into the world generator they should display properly.
In which case you use the save file upload option so that valheim-map can override explored areas with what's already there.
