If you enjoy a good challange and you can handle defeat or loss you will enjoy it. Also it's not a sprint, it's a marathon and preparation is key. Progress takes quite a lot of time solo so you need to commit.
If you find the default setting too brutal you can always change the world modifiers mid playthru. In the steam description i think the 4th word is "brutal". They aren't joking, especially if you're new.
Thanks for responding positively guys I'll give it a go while it's on sale and see how it goes
Once you play some, do you think you can come back here and share your thoughts? Id be curious to hear.
Downloaded and thought I'll have a quick 10 mins to see... played 2 hours so that's a good sign. I'm not gonna look at guides til I've played way longer so you guys were right it's a steep learning curve. Died several times... to a falling log... doh! and skeletons, but it's not too punishing initially.
Beat the first boss, struggled with the building system until I got the hang of the snapping system and starting to mine in the black forest... now need to build a smelter.
Yeah it's good so far (got 4 hrs in) loads to keep me interested. Wise words to take it slow - it's not quite the rapid game I thought it was but hugely positive first impressions and I can see me playing a good few hours on this one.
Cheers guys
Im glad you're enjoying it! Yeah solo valheim for the 1st you cant rly rush. Nor I think you would be able to. Not without looking up some guides or something.
Imho the 1st playthru is the best one and best enjoyed at your own pace discovering things on your own. Dying to a log - we've all been there mate xD that's how you learn.
Few good hours? Hehe... well the game tends to suck you in. I mean Ive over 1400 hours and im not even THAT deep in compared to others. I saw people with over 2k and 4k hours played. There is something about this game that is able to draw people in for hours on end. My guess is building epic halls and long houses and castles and towers and everything in between is something you can spend uncountable hours on.
Anyway, you keep enjoying the game and welcome to Valheim! May the All-father guide you in your travels.
Friendly advise.
Be prepared that each boss will have a new mechanic that you have to learn and adapt to.
The first boss is kinda a tutorial one, 2nd will be much much harder if you dont check ahead and see what it can do.
