Map completely gone

My wife and I have been playing. When she creates her own server, the map is completely gone. Made a Cartography table and it says "Table is empty" when she tries to use it. Only started to happen after the bog witch update.

Check the starting map options. There is one to not have any maps.

So far, I have always used the defaults, so I am not sure what else might be in there at this point.

How long have you been playing until this happened? Did you manage to solve it? Was your wife at any point trying to enable "no map" world modifiers? I would like to get my hands on your save files if that's possible. We only had one report of this happening so far, but we didn't manage to check save files.
