Unable to place/build an Adze

Any ideas on why I cant build this upgrade, i have all the necessary materials

The upgrades need to be a little way from the bench and other upgrades; just fiddle around a bit and it'll work eventually.

Depending on what you're upgrading (bench, forge, etc), then you can put some of the upgrades on shelves which gives you more flexibility/options.

Many upgrades need to be either very close or not so close, others even give the impression that they need to have space upwards to be able to build them. I recommend that you choose a large space to build your main workbench and once everything is in place start building walls around it if you wish (the only piece that needs to have a roof over it is the workbench itself).

I usually put the upgrades that look like they belong outside, on the other side of the wall from my workbench. So outside my base building. I make sure that they are close enough to connect with the bench, but it saves room inside the crafting area inside.

Do you have a forge? The adze needs a forge.

Yeah, I forgot that the forge needs to be in range of where you place your Adze. You need the forge to make the bronze to build the Adze, but you also need the forge close to where you place it.
If you want your Workbench station in a separate location from your forge area, you just need to borrow your forge to build the Adze, and then put it back in your forge area.
