Bog Witch update

Will I need to create a new world in order to find the bog witch? Or will it spawn in a world that has already been generated

It will spawn in a world that has already been generated. You just need to check undiscovered swamps.

What if half the swamp is explored but the other half isn't, can it spawn there, or does it have to be an entirely new swamp that you're never set foot in?

That might depend on how big that swamp is. If it is a huge one, it might be worth a try.

Terrain (including points of interest, like the hut of the witch) is only generated within a certain distance from the player. And the witch can not spawn an terrain that has already been generated.

I found mine very close to where I already was on the same landmass. The terrain had been generated, although that section was unexplored. However, when I logged in, there was a button lower right that had 'generating' spinning around, so I guess it just added it on.

This is true for me. I was getting the impression that I may have to install a seed updater or something. Did a great deal of exploring 'til I found her in a swamp out in the middle of unexplored territory.
Keep an eye out for those craggy trees, she may be there.
