Every biome, the first time you set foot in it, is going to seem inordinately difficult compared to what you went through in the biome prior. That's the nature of new experiences and learning to handle them, and that is especially true for first-timers in Valheim.

So no, it is not a "dark souls simulator," you just need to allow yourself the opportunity and time to get accustomed to how enemies behave and attack in the biome, same as you did with every biome prior.

If you find you are having an extraordinary amount of difficulty, there are plenty of handy videos on YT that showcase how to deal with the initial approach and landing - both the intended way, and some cheesier ways.

Once you start getting some of the new gear and food opponents in the Ashlands aren't going to give you too much trouble. You may even find that the experience becomes less brutal and more tedious, than anything else, but YMMV.

Dude, we've all been there. Just don't give up.

Invest your first 5 flametal into upgrading your black forge, then upgrade all your Mistland stuff to level 4.
Upgrade to Ashlands food next (use cooked Bonemaw meat until then, it's better than HGC or Misthare Supreme).

Once you've done that things get a lot easier.

Odin wouldn't have chosen you if you couldn't do it!

If it were easier, the fuss would be about how little land there is. I haven't played dark souls but I've played Valheim and got through it with the mistlands upgrade as they mentioned. The lingering potions are very good.

It would've been easier to admit you're just not willing to improve your skill at the game instead of insisting on falsehoods.

If you want more sensible advice on how to cope with the specific problems you are having, then maybe give some more specifics on what exactly you struggle with. Ranting is fine in the heat of the moment but sustained ranting smells like something else.

No. Dark Souls has good combat.

Use the best food from Mistlands, one of each type plus fire resist potion and always have health potion and bonemass ready until you get better armor and weapons. Use Mistwalker, Bonesnap with frost arrows, the fire and frost staff and Frostner. Needless to say, sleep at night in a place that gives you at least 20min rested buff. Take out any spawners, which will reduce the amount of enemies and don't, for goodness sake, try to fight everything, running away and hiding is fully cool. Sneak a lot. It is imperative to get a foothold base with portal and shield and to change the portal for a stone one as soon as. It is hell and a battlezone. Take it easy, take it slow. Make short trips until you understand what you are doing and what the enemy is capable of.

On a good day my setup achieve 30fps, during a Valk fight it can drop to zero. Because of this I have all graphics options set to 0 and render at 40%.

If all else fail, reduce the difficulty. You can always take it back up as you get better.
EDIT: of course carapace armor and shield until you get flametal.

The Original Poster is GAS-LIGHTING you.

The Ashlands respawn rates (EVEN AFTER CLEARING SPAWNING SPIRES) is ridiculously high, and it is intentional to make moving just 20 feet in any direction and then moving back to be as punishing as possible.

I haven't played in months, and people are still reporting this is still a problem in game. This should speak volumes about the intent of it.

Gas-lighting is difficult to achieve when one has played a game for long enough to actually know what one is doing and what to expect. If you haven't played for months how can you say with certainty that the spawn rates haven't changed? It is always a good idea to give an OP the benefit of the doubt even if and especially if they're horsing around. it usually backfires on them.
