Modding: BePinEx or BePinEx Valheim (with thunderstore)
I have installed BepinEx from Nexus and using a mod named Configuration Manager to deal with the mods ingame. Now i found some interesting mods but they all seem to use another BePinEx and another platform to start the mods.
Not sure if i should use thunderstone, i guess i have to delete all the other mods then and the configuration manager too, because he does what the thunderstone software does, as it seems.
Advice would be kind. Are you all using Thunderstone Mod Manager ?

It was because of the bracket, there was no space behind the last letter of the link.

So no one is using mods here ? You all play with god-mode ?
Way disappointing:laugh_lif:

Be patient. This is not a live chat. Sometimes it takes more than a day for the right person to see your post.

I always used Thunderstore mod manager. Never tried any other and I’m not nearly enough educated to tell you the difference and if you can use both at the same time.

If you want to use mods from Thunderstore, install their mod manager.
It’s very simple to use and has a lot of mods downloadable directly from the manager. No copy-pasting .dlls into the game directory. Just select, install and play. You can have multiple profiles with different mods and switch between them without the need of uninstalling and reinstalling mods.

Most of the players don't even use mods at all, nor do they use dec commands. So as for the "disappointing" it would be those players, who would be disappointed, that you even assume so.

pinned in Thunderstore: R2modman and bepinex. Install r2 or Gale mod manager (both with no ads) and you can manage profiles and test modpacks. You still can launch vanilla from the modmanager. Enjoy

Thanks for the answers, i guess i try out the Thunderstore MM then. I were not secure, because i try not to have that much software i don't need later on my pc.

So should i just delete the other BePinEx and all the mods with it, since this seems to be another BePinEx then the one of Thunderstore ?

yes, bepinex in thunderstore is tuned for valheim, and the mods you install do require it

Um, I think it is BepInEx, not BePinEx.
BepInEx is a plugin / modding framework for Unity.
no matter where you get this plugin, it is the same. As long as it is the current version.
I don't even use a mod manager, but I have BepInEx and JVL (Jotunn).
With these 2 files, you don't need a mod manager at all really. You can just manually drop your .dll (mod files) into your plugins folder, and play.

You are going to learn a lot more about running mods by looking this stuff up, rather than coming to the Discussion board here on steam for help.
We all do stuff a little differently, which can lead to conflicting information.
Watch a YouTube tutorial or 2 and learn what and how these files operate.
Happy Modding!

Ok, so i throw away the actual BepInEx. I read, that the Thunderstore-BepInEx is tailored for Valheim and its mods do not work with the other BepInEx from f.e. Nexus, and its true, i tried it out.

Installed thunderstone but my skills and my inventory is empty, nothing there, and the raven is appearing all the time to show me things, seems i have a new char.
Someone got an idea how i can get my stuff and my skills back ?

I guess the char i had with all the skills and equipment is not deleted , but how can i get it all into game again ?

BepInEx for Valheim is both on Nexus and Thunderstore. I only use this one (Denikson's one), and not the general BepInEx for Unity engine, as the former includes modified libraries that ease the way for Valheim's mods, and preconfig files.

As for mod managers, I guess they are useful when you have tons of mods, but if I recall correctly, most of them work by saving both vanilla and modded directories, and this means that your modded game takes twice the space on the disk (this enables the manager to quickly deactivate a mod by restoring vanilla elements). There is also a Config Manager mod that can activate/deactivate some mods.

But if you have only one dozen or two mods, then you can well write down a text file were you describe the mods you want to install, along with their installation protocol and content files. In general, it amounts to downloading the mod, extracting the archive, and copying/pasting files into the BepInEx/config and BepInEx/plugins folders. It's supereasy to manually uninstall mods if you noted their content in the text file prior to installing them manually.

Overall i feel good with the Thunderstore MM now, have 11 mods. But the only problem is, some do not have a configuration file; TMM has a "edit config" and "settings" tab but for some mods there is just no config listed, sadly.

Some config files will be generated when you start the game.
I suggest to install the mod Official Bepinex Configuration Manager so you can access and change configs from the game.

I already use the Thunderstore Mod Manager, doesn't that and the official Bepinex conflict ?

You use the BepInEx built for Valhiem, manual installs or through a MM:

No. This is not mod manager, it’s config manager. Just to make it easier for you to edit configs.
